Thread: Many people think that Camazotz in #wrinkleintime is an allegory for soviet-style communism. This is not the case. Image
While Madeleine L'Engle was convinced that any *ism* leads to dehumanizing generalities, she knew that totalitarianism lurked under the surface of American democracy.

Honestly, the boy who read @WrinkleInTime in 6th grade is so excited to finally see the movie this weekend, because he saw himself in Meg, and it never crossed his mind that she wasn’t like him—he just knew he felt how she did and needed to be reminded that he was not powerless.
When I met @MadeleineLEngle 10 years later, as a college student serving as her host for a day, she reminded me again: anyone who feels lost or directionless has power within them. Darkness is fought on many fronts, big & small, but we have to choose to fight. #WrinkleInTime
I’m grateful I had the example of Meg, Vicky, Poly, Camilla, Calvin, Charles, & so many other strong characters from her connected world. @MadeleineLEngle’s own life, too, stands as a testimony to being true to who you were created to be and use your unique voice as only YOU can.
