We have released our first full set of reports as part of the #YemenProject.

20 in-depth open source investigations into Saudi-led Coalition (SLC) airstrikes in #Yemen.

During these investigations, which covered incidents from 2015-2019, it became clear that the SLC were carrying out strikes in civilian areas, including bustling markets, weddings, funerals and prisons, often resulting in hundreds of civilian casualties.
Often it appeared that the mass civilian casualties that resulted from these strikes were entirely foreseeable, such as when the SLC bombed a funeral hall in Sana’a in 2016, killing over 100 people.

Our fourth report for the #Yemenproject examines a Saudi-led Coalition airstrike which killed 25 people, many of them prisoners, some of them children, in the city of Abs in Yemen on 12 May 2015.

Our analysis identified that two main locations were likely hit in this airstrike. A compound near the main road at 16.000392, 43.194642....

And a larger building about 470 meters to the east at 15.998800, 43.198855, which we believe to be the prison that was hit in this incident.
