I realized this week a problem common to two sitcoms we watch regularly - #youngsheldon and #derrygirls - the ageing of actors faster than the story advances season to season. But both are at two different scales.

In YS, the story has them as 12 still, but the actors are 14.
And unlike Maisie Williams who made GoT writers' life easier by ending up a petite grown-up, both Ian and Reagan have shot up noticeably after hitting puberty. Writers are already writing lines to explain away that discrepancy. Like Ian's voice dropping.
The thing is, they can't just fast forward to age 14 in the story, cos TBBT canon has the dad dying at that age. And I don't think they're ready to write Lance Barber off yet. He tests really well, apparently (Go Pondy!)

But it's a problem that'll get worse every month for them.

Can't believe I watched #YoungSheldon for 5 years always wondering if Iain Armitage is related to Richard Armitage, but never looking it up until now. Remember Dick Armitage? Iraq War enthusiast, outed Valerie Plame, consistent NeverTrumper?

Turns out he's the grandson!
I guess the best advice you can give aspiring young actors nowadays is to try to be born in a well connected family?
Even Lin Manuel Miranda, the inevitable EGOT, and doubtless talented guy, was helped immensely by coming from a connected family. Given how networking heavy the NYC-DC-Hollywood world is, it's not surprising I guess. Even Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, silver spoon kids.

One of our current bedtime rewatches is #YoungSheldon. I had seen those episodes before where Sturgis gets a job at a supercollider in Waxahachie Texas. And assumed it was a made up thing cos I'd never heard of it before.

Looked it up. What a rabbit hole! 3 times the CERN LHC!!
The Superconducting Super Collider in Wakahachie was very much a real thing and even had a 1980s Texas appropriate nickname - Desertron 😎😎

Its development, construction, and eventual cancellation is a VERY American government story. Worthy of a short thread for sure.
Desertron was supposed to be 3 times and long and powerful as the CERN large hadron collider. For the same purpose. And scientists agree that if completed, it would've detected the Higgs boson a decade before the Europeans, underlining American excellence! And huge tourism too.
