Es gibt da ein Storage (FreeNAS) auf dem diverse Daten und auch ein paar VMs rumliegen.
Der ZFS-Tank darin ist ein Set aus fünf 3-Wege-Spiegeln. Also 15 Daten-Disks. Dazu noch ein SLOG-Mirror, eine L2ARC-SSD und Spares.
Insgesamt 23 Datenträger im System.

Vor ein paar Stunden hat sich dann eine HDD entschieden das zeitliche zu segnen. Nicht komplett. Nur ein bisschen. Nämlich so, dass ihre Probleme den kompletten HBA resetten. Ja, richtig gelesen.

O primero impacto causado pelo ZFS é que com um simples comando, em poucos segundos, cria-se um file system (com RAID-Z e funções de self-healing) montado e pronto para uso. O ZFS apenas identifica o começo e fim de cada disco do storage para entregar um recurso de armazenamento.
O ZFS usa COW, assim como possui suporte nativo a compressão e deduplicação. Os data blocks são distribuídos e com tamanho variável. Esses atributos contribuem com otimização de espaço e aumento de performance. Também suporta snapshots instantâneos, clones e replicações.
The Linux hate is strong today. zpool feature "org.zfsonlinux:userobj_accounting (User/Group object accounting.)". They added Linux-only features to zpool - and made them active by default when creating pools with no special argument. WTF! #zfs
To clarify, that means you will never be able to use any pool created this way (the defaults under Linux) under any other OS.
1/n I want to elaborate some more. 1/n I am aware that if I just set up a new OS install and make zpools that I might not be able to read them from my existing machines.
