THREAD: Guess it's advanced voting day 1. Let me tell you when I was a Wildrose campaign worker. Youth campaign coordinator to be more precise. I was on Bruce McAllister's team. I looked up to him as a smart, funny Global News anchor every morning growing up. #ableg #abelxn Image
Got a few friends on board who wanted to increase youth voter turnout and instill real change in gov. We beat Ted Morton (who's now simping for Smith). I was elated. My first (real) campaign success. But only two years later, our success was in vain.. #abelxn #abpoli #abvotes
My colleagues and I felt so betrayed. Our hard work against the PC dynasty, momentum for the WR, all but vanished during that press conference. McAllister and Smith turned their backs on the party, their constituents, and all the volunteers like me who believed in them. #abelxn twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

I really haven't talked about this at length but I feel like it needs sharing. It lives within me in a way I don't want it to.
I'm just an IT guy. This IT guy ends up in areas of all kinds of areas of the hospital - heck I was dressed up to enter an OR just last week.
I witnessed a heart transplant and subsequently a lung transplant at the Mazankowski. This was pre-pandemic and significantly different.

What struck me was that that heart came in a beer cooler, something I found humourous despite the significance of the dear organ.
The moral injury of healthcare workers these past years is immense. I've heard the stories of redeployed public health nurses in High Prairie. I've heard the stories of nurses in Edmonton forced into ICU care from L&D.

I bear these stories in a way I feel indebted to share.

It's been a hectic few hours, but here is what we know about how @ABDanielleSmith, @rebeccakschulz, @BrianJeanAB and @Alberta_UCP are lying to you about net-zero electricity. #ableg #abpoli #abelxn 🧵 @JSJamato @CanadianPress @TorontoStar @calgaryherald
The government (Department of Energy at the time) commissioned an analysis of net-zero grid back in August. The RFP was won by ICF. The work was completed in the winter and provided to government.

The government has chosen not to release or talk about the results. Clearly, they didn't like the results -- presumably, they wanted to results to show higher costs. They have not been asked by media about this analysis.

Some comments on the UCP's misleading rhetoric around net-zero electricity. #abpoli #abelxn
It's totally unhelpful, for two main reasons:
1) It perverts the AESO’s 2022 net-zero analysis
2) It is hiding its own analysis that it commissioned in the summer of 2022 to be delivered to them by February, but it hasn’t released.
There isn’t much to say about #2, except that we can only assume that their own analysis (#3) takes a more optimistic view of the path to net-zero electricity. If they are interested in a constructive conversation around net-zero electricity, why not release the report?
