I predicted an NDP win two weeks ago, and I'm standing by that prediction. These are my five reasons why NDP will form government tomorrow, and why the pollsters STILL have it wrong. #ableg #abpoli #abelxn23
1. Moderate conservatives in Calgary will choose Notley over Smith. These voters want low taxes, well-run services, and they don't tolerate nonsense. Rachel offers this, Smith doesn't. This thread explains why they will deliver Calgary for the NDP:
2. Vote inefficiency means that if UCP only wins the popular vote by 2%, as pollsters predict, NDP wins the election. If UCP only gets 50% provincially, they're down to 45% or less in Calgary, and lose all but the deep south. They need at least a draw in Calgary to win.

Thanks to everyone sharing my threads about the outrageously inaccurate #abelxn23 polling. I hope post-election there will be a serious discussion about polling practices, influence, and ethics. This thread discusses the legal requirements for polls. #ableg #abpoli Image
The Alberta Elections Act sets out a general requirement for election surveys in section 135. Pollsters must register with the Chief Electoral Officer, but there's no certification. Anyone can call themselves a pollster regardless of their affiliation or qualifications. ImageImage
There are some general disclosure requirements, including who commissioned the poll and some basic details, but methodology is up to the pollster. There is no set standard. ImageImage

This is very encouraging. Notley is going to Calgary South-East and Calgary-Lougheed, districts UCP won by 61/19 and 66/25 in 2019. Leaders don't spend the final days of races in districts they don't think they can win. If South Calgary is in play, UCP is toast. #ableg #abelxn23
This thread explains why the pollsters have completely underestimated the magnitude of the shift that has occurred in #yyc. #ableg #abpoli #abelxn23

🧵I was a longtime @AlbertaParty supporter and member, Regional Organizer for #yeg and Chair and VP of Comms.
During my time with the party we grew into a semi-serious party, elected an MLA under the banner, attracted floor crossers from both the NDP and UCP. #ableg #abelxn23
I contributed thousands of dollars and hours to help build the party along with many other smart, capable, and caring Albertans - full time in my case for 3 years, in addition to a full time job.
Despite missteps, and strategic errors on the part of our board, our leaderS (plural), and candidates - we had our best vote share in 2019 - getting the second highest vote share without electing an MLA in two generations.

But politics is about being electable and achieving

1. During the election people have been looking at the relationship between Take Back Alberta and the UCP government and Premier Danielle Smith.

We should also be looking at the relationship between Take Back Alberta and the Alberta Prosperity Project. #ableg #abelxn23 #Abpoli ImageImage
2. Probably the first time most people caught wind of the Alberta Prosperity Project is when their then VP of Economics, Christian Nationalist Tanner Hnidey posted, posted this particular "anti-woke" rant and warning of a vengeful God.

3. So, yeah.

The Alberta Prosperity Project is basically a por-independence movement looking to influence... I mean "educate" Albertans about the virtue of leaving Confederation. Image

Over four years in government, the UCP have failed to lower surgery wait times and they’ve actually increased, according to data available from the Government of Alberta. 🧵

#ableg #abhealth #abvote #abelxn23 #cdnhealth

According to the Government’s own data:

From April 2019 to January 2023, median wait times have increased for hip replacements from 18.7 to 26.3 weeks and knee replacements have increased from 20.6 weeks to 36.9 weeks.

We can do amazing things together. Last quarter was proof.

Thanks to the generosity of Albertans like you, we surpassed the UCP’s deep-pocket donors for the first time in a long time - a massive achievement! You proved that every bit really does count.

But we’re coming up on the end of another quarterly fundraising deadline on Sept 30. Our opponents will be watching to see if we can pull it off again. We need to prove that our success was because of hard work and everyone pitching in.

#alberta
Fundraising numbers are publicly reported and show our strength as a movement. We need to keep up the momentum to show Albertans that voters are turning away from Jason Kenney and that only Rachel Notley can defeat the UCP.
