Most of the lost territory was sparsely populated (Agdam, Kalbajar and Lachin Rayons of #Azerbaijan). They were always kept as buffers, mostly. Losing them surely weakens #Aartsakh, but at the same time was always calculated for.
What hurts the most will be the loss of #Dadivank, #Tigranakert and #Shushi. Basically, all historical and culturally important places of #Artsakh are now in the parts taken by #Azerbaijan.

According to Sergey Arutyunov, in the late 18th-early 19th century an Ottoman ship travelling wrecked near the Abkhazian coast with slaves -probably from Sudan or Somalia- who were brought up for sale.

2. As ever, NK conflict is spoiler. Omit reference to “territorial integrity” and you offend Az, mention it, you offend Armenia. This has been going at least since 1996 OSCE Lisbon Summit. Old protracted conflict not only hurts locals, it's a poison seeping far beyond.
Today at my lecture on conflicts in Tbilisi at @Boell_SC I will cite Lord Palmerston's famous quotation from 1865 on the Schleswig-Holstein question. Important that the actors still press for progress in #Abkhazia and don't let it become another obscure forgotten conflict! 1.
