A #journey to unknown! 🥰✌️

Nobody can help you out
It's only you, who can help yourself
To stay up, to stay motivated, to not fall, and to get up stronger even if you fall
You're the only one to lift yourself up
You're the only one to wipe your tears
As only you know what you're going through
Believe me
It's a journey to make you stronger and better
To help you cross bigger obstacles in future
These things won't even matter few years from now
But for now it does, and I understand the pain
But nobody else will, feel the same as you do
So only you can cure it
By putting a smile on your face
And getting back on track with more /confidence and determination

A THREAD: #Actors - Let's talk Script Analysis! This is an important skill that often gets overlooked, but is crucial to nailing your auditions. Remember all that annoying reading comprehension you studied in school? Same basic principles apply here...
Here's my thesis statement: Being able to understand a scene as a whole versus as only a character will give you much more insight into how to portray that character...
When you start with a wider understanding of the scene and its purpose, you can then narrow down into your character work and how your character fits into this particular world, moment, environment, relationship, etc...

#actors! I wanted to share something I do that has helped me keep track of my career over the years. I keep a spreadsheet of every audition that I get (commercial and theatrical), even if I decline. I write down writers, CDs, networks, character types, etc. ImageImage
I make sure to document if it’s series reg, guest, recurring, etc., and if I get a callback/book it, I highlight that. I also include miles traveled for auditions for tax purposes (I use @everlance for this). On the bottom, I can toggle through the years.
The stats I keep track of for commercials & theatrical are different but it helps me realize what I’m having success in across the board & what doesn’t work as well. I can see what CDs are calling me in most frequently and how they are seeing me, aka my “type.”

Actors: a few thoughts regarding games acting. Thread. Firstly, it’s a great industry to get into if you’re not already & it’s continued to thrive through lockdown. I’ve been lucky to direct hundreds of games and it’s seeing me through this tough time. Maybe it can you, too.
Performance capture shoots are fewer during Covid. However, voice recording is busy. Many actors ask me how to get a voice agent: this is tough, as many don’t want anyone extra just now, but it’s also important to put a reel on @SpotlightUK (UK based).
Casting for games is very very fast: clients (ie games developers) often send a brief to an Outsourcer (studios who specialise in games and bring the ‘talent’ on board, ie you and me) or to the CD, fairly close to the date they want to start auditions.

As #COVID19 cases are found to spread, #Melbourne (city of ~5 million) tries to contain them by going into #Lockdown.
(The interview features the idea of a dedicated #Quarantine building - that would actually help, I guess)...
"People acting as if the pandemic was over was 'not the answer, it is part of the problem' ".

"The virus had leaked from postcodes already under the stay-at-home orders to other parts of #Melbourne."
(and beyond, it is feared).
Due to #Melbourne's outbreak, neighbouring South Australia is about to completely close it's borders to #Victoria.

(Nearly) no exceptions. And those essential few who are allowed in, will have to wear facemasks the entire time...

Vorpommern-Greifswald district (where rejections of #Gütersloh residents took place, yesterday)
has specific rules:
"Those who return from international risk areas (out of Germany) or whose Corona-Warning App has alerted them, need to report to authorites"
kreis-vg.de Image
In fact, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's Corona-ordinance really prohibits entry of people from international risk areas AND german risk areas as well.
It's just not prominently featured on their websites.

(Overlooked that myself, hence deleted earlier tweet)

People from #Gütersloh district may have to scrap all their holiday plans anyway...

An official #Lockdown is just being announced for the entire district.
(for one week, as of now)

Since it seems that I’ve been remiss with issuing my usual bits of #audition advice before the annual Unified Professional Theatre Auditions @UPTA, and the Spring Southeastern Theatre Conference @SETCTweet Pro-Div Auditions, here is a quick guide in 9 tweets:

It’s #Monday, I’m boozing it up at a 4 seat bar, the #barkeep is a long pourer, and I’m all fucking set if I get something stuck between my teeth.👇🙃 #RandomThoughts #drinking #OutAndAbout
Shooting the shit with a friend, she’s proud to be doing well with her plants - unusual for her.

The key was a #video explaining the benefits of pruning.

She needs REASONS. She got them.

Apparently, pruning in a particular manner stimulates growth hormones.

Of course, this led to me initiating a discussion about the #movie I just watched on Hulu, called “The German Doctor.”

The main character was Josef Mengele. #ThisHappened

People, this is why I’m known in my circles as “The Black Hole Of Conversation.” SMTH
