Most of these corporate bigwigs don't have Doctorate degrees, but, even then, universities would like to bring them on board because they have an adequate amount of insights.
I love this quote. I also loved teaching writing and English at the comm. college level and I don't know how to "go after" that anymore because being an #adjunct is just not a livable job, especially as I age and am a mom. But, I was the kindest, most generous and loving then.

I get an email, on a SATURDAY, from the comm. college I'd like to teach at asking if I can #adjunct two WR 121 classes for fall term, starting 9/27. I could do this. I've taught MANY WR 121 classes and would LOVE to do this, but this kind of WORK-LIFE is not sustainable...2/
There are a lot of things that tenured (and some tenure track) #faculty can do to resist the decline of #tenure. This thread focuses on ways to formalize the hiring and retention of #adjunct faculty and other #lecturers in your department and at your school. #highereducation
1) Tenured faculty should ask to receive regular (at least annual) reports on what % of courses, and what % of students in their department’s courses are taught by non-tenure track faculty.
2) When your department hires new non-tenure track instructors, ensure that it uses a formal application process. This requires: a regional job posting, application, formal hiring criteria, and a teaching contract before school starts.
Tales of an Adjunct @rutgersptl @ruaaup: I spent 8 hours (11am-7pm) at @Rutgers_Newark Friday holding office hours for my English 101 & 102 students. This was in addition to the extra office hours I held on Thursday--which kept me on campus until after 8pm.
When did I get to Rutgers Thursday? Around 10am for my first class. Taught 2 English composition classes, held extra office hours during my usual lunch break, taught another comp class & then held 4 hours of office hours.
I have 60 students this semester @Rutgers_Newark across 3 classes. My 101 sections were capped at 18 until around the first week and then raised to 20. Our 102 sections are currently capped at 18, but I let 2 former students of mine transfer in, so I have 20 students in 102.
So I left #postdoc, and I left #adjunct and went into #industry. There are two things I wish I knew when making this transition, and I hope it may help you...
