Let's have another NT #Greek thread...

This time, two famous words, Αγαπη (#Agape) and Τελοσ (#Telos). Conventionally understood, they mean "unconditional love" and "perfect," respectively.

The Sermon on the Mount brings them together...

Did you know that?
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the...
righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?...

Cautiously relieved to learn that #Agape plans to close its doors on January 20.

I'll take a moment to celebrate this battle victory, but the war is far from won.
Efforts to #ShutDownAgape have been going on for years, but especially since September 2022. Our former Attorney General eventually filed an injunction to shut them down, then slow-walked it for months.

#Agape is closing for financial reasons, not for the welfare of children.
Nearly 30 residential facilities have reported to DSS #Missouri that they exist and are exempt from licensure. We don't have any way to know whether there are any that have not notified DSS, where they are or how many. dss.mo.gov/provider-servi…

Oversight is important. Why?

Missouri is currently home to unregulated boarding schools engaging in child rape, torture, and even labor trafficking of adults.

And their unregulated status has made it so far impossible for your candidate @Eric_Schmitt to shut them down. /1
If #Agape was licensed, there would be regular oversight and state authority to close the doors.

See, you denigrate “govt” as if it’s some mystic unilateral force. But in a democracy, the govt = the people.

We the people decide what’s best. And any society has rules. /2
You’ve taken the position that a government of the people, by the people, and for the people is nefarious at its core.

But most of us know and believe in the role of good government. AND we understand that the government is only as good as the people we elect to it. /3

ERIC. SCHMITT. CAN’T. PROTECT. MISSOURIANS. @Eric_Schmitt

-Not from abuse/slavery at unlicensed boarding schools

-Not from a pandemic ravaging hospitals and destroying families

-And not from enduring forced birth and trauma at the hands of the state.

Let’s explore.

🧵 1/?
He and @GovParsonMO allowed the situation at #Agape to go unchecked for far too long, and still haven’t stopped it.

@AGEricSchmitt’s office fielded the complaints of gang rape.

He had received the many DHS warnings of the labor trafficking. The sickening reports of children and even employee spouses forced into involuntary servitude.

"It goes to show that the kids that you abuse today, those are the ones that are going to kick you down tomorrow. We were abused by Agape but we weren’t scared.” @RobertBucklin8

Agape has a long history of alleged abuse.

"All 10 substantiated preponderance of evidence claims against Agape involved findings of physical abuse. Those 10 substantiated claims are the only ones reported by the state since 2006."

A 1pm hearing today was set to determine the fate of #Agape but reports from @RobertBucklin8 and @Batmanda4ever indicate this has been moved to Monday morning. Will update as I learn more.

What we are dealing with in Missouri goes far beyond a few high-ranking elected officials. We have a system that harms children and allows this to happen. This short 🧵is not intended to excuse anyone's actions, but ... 1/
This system is rooted in our laws and in the deep culture of Missouri.

1. We have a culture that believes corporal punishment is good and the best way to raise a child is not positive parenting, but to force bad behavior out of them. 2/
2. We have a culture that takes the puritan work ethic to a fault. Productivity is the objective, and those who are not "productive" are valued less. Work that is not "productive" like raising children or caring for the elderly is seen as second-class work. 3/

This #agape story is taking me down a rabbit hole. I snagged some clips from this interview with a former “student” and a PI. Here, the host explains the overall mission. Sound familiar? #slavery #ChristianNationalism
Oh, this is a THREAD. In the next clip, they theorize the end game. They’re guess is less sinister than mine. This was a yr ago. After seeing the effort to defund public schools and Christofascist takeover attempts, I see a bigger mission. Also discussed: moving state to state.
So Clemenson got in trouble for violating health and safety standards in Washington and moved operations to Missouri, after pleading it down to a misdemeanor, avoiding background check flags

Y'all ready to hear about how you don't have to get paid for the work that you do? Buckle in.
First, the law of wages is in Chapter 290, RSMo. It's got general provisions, provisions for paying prevailing wages, a part to make sure women aren't paid less than men, and the minimum wage part. Let's talk about paying minimum wage.

A few years back, St. Louis decided to raise the minimum wage in the city. The legislature came back and said "nope." They were quite adamant about it, too. revisor.mo.gov/main/OneSectio…

@tedcruz Large numbers of people were screaming; of victory Ted was still dreaming, but his campaign fell short. Now no one can support this senator seen to be scheming, our Democracy to undermine; it’s the Republican #partyline.
🙏🏼 @scuds57

@tedcruz @scuds57 Bob & Eric went to #ParkwayWest to wish Senator Ted Cruz the best for his ’16 campaign. (Eric’s lawsuits insane 6 years later proved to be a pest.) With so many disgruntled #Longhorns, Cruz’s lost reputation he mourns — a gathering in #Chesterfield no Cruz nomination would yield.
@tedcruz @scuds57 Schmitt was proud to introduce Ted Cruz; he against Donald later would lose. Their March ’16 rally was not up folks’ alley. Eric too has the primary blues with a campaign strategy that fails; by a large gap he Greitens still trails.

Agape - God's love gives

It is popularly said that the proof of love is giving. You give to who you love and God showed his love by giving the greatest gift, his son to die for man and save you.

He has also given you his Spirit as proof of his love for you.
God loves you unconditionally and will not any good thing from you. He loves you in particular.
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else?

Agape - God's love instructs and corrects

We are all being perfected and thus in need of instruction and correction. The love of God corrects us and that is not judgment. Never get too big for God's correction.

God also does not correct with sickness or disaster, no he does not
He corrects with his word because he loves you. Sicknesses/ accidents are consequences of refusing God's corrections.

For instance, a parent tells a child to stop jumping from a chair but the child persists and sprains an ankle.
Can we then say the injury was the parent's means of correction? Of course not.

God is sending his word of correction to you through your meditations in scriptures, the Holy Spirit, your pastors and even your friends; Beloved, listen to them and repent.

Agape - God's love for you is patient and unmovable

God understands your frame and he is patient towards you. He is not looking for your faults to punish you.
Perhaps the best description of God's Love is seen in Luke 15, the story of the prodigal son.
Despite the boy's misdeeds, the father(God) ran towards him while he was yet afar off to welcome him back.
Your mistakes can't scare God's love away, He loves you unrepentantly.
For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

Agape - God's love is just

Justice is often times not associated with love, it is seen as being sentimental, but not so with God's love. It is established in righteousness and justice.

Others measure God's love in time (months and years). If God truly loves you,
he should have done this or that by now, they say.
How then do we describe Joseph who was sold to slavery at 17 and for 13 years he seemed to be under the wrath of God (slavery to prison) .
Yet the love and justice of God was revealed when he was 30 years old and he lived till 110 years.

Beloved, never doubt God's love base on your temporary circumstances, his love is just.

God's Love gives choices
The most voiced question to God loving us is why are there still bad occurrences in the world?
The answer is love gives choice. While God wants the best for us, he still allows man to make a choice to follow him or not.
Our world is thus the cumulation of the choices that people have made.

Even today, God is still beckoning on the world to accept his love but he will not force himself or his way on us. We have to choose to obey him.
Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply,
