Almost exactly a year ago, I made a request on this very site for #LUFC shirts to take back to Sierra Leone, where I’d recently moved.

Ahead of the new season and having moved back to the UK, it’s about time I gave my final update — and most of all, said some thank yous.

tl;dr: Not all football fans are like the ones we’ve seen in the news this summer. Many are brilliant and kind and generous and @LUFC, in my experience, seems to overindex in this type.

Anyway, in my last update in November, I’d dragged back hundreds of shirts to Freetown and had started to find new homes for the kit.

There was so many I had to make a spreadsheet to keep track of them all.

1/1/20:
2019 ended with a typical Leeds loss in London after a dodgy penalty and conceding from a corner, and a trip to West Brom followed on New Years Day, ending in a 1-1 draw after Bamford’s deflected equaliser after yet another set piece conceded, leaving Leeds top.
3/1/20:
Another trip to London, this time in the FA Cup 3rd round away to Premier League side Arsenal. Despite fielding a weaker side Leeds dominated the first half and in the end lost out 1-0 to a Reiss Nelson goal. Meslier and Gotts make their debuts.

#LUFC fans, an appeal.

I haven't done this once this season but please, dear god please can someone get me a Brentford ticket please? I'll obviously pay. There are loads of reasons why I am deserving of this, here they are:

I had a season ticket for years in the Kop. Used to go home and away, 40+ games a season. Got into mad debt supporting the club but couldn't consider stopping. But it was never the glory years. I was there through all the dogshit years when we were mediocre or terrible.
I was regularly there when there was 10 to 15,000 at Elland Road for cup games and the place felt like a ghost town.
