Machine Learning is hard.

I felt like quitting whenever I get baffled by the amount of information to learn.

But I followed the path to learning from Math for ML.

Here are the 5 critical reasons why you should start with Math concepts for ML

THREAD🧵 ↓
🤔 Why Math for ML:
**********************
📌 Machine learning algorithms rely on mathematical calculations to make predictions and decisions
📌 Many machine learning techniques, such as neural networks and deep learning, are based on linear algebra and calculus

The word Algebra's history dates way back 825 AD to the Islamic golden age. The Islamic golden age was an intellectual primetime in the Middle East centred in Baghdad.
During this time, many great Arabic scholars rose. A library known as the House of Wisdom was established to translate essential works of literature from diverse languages, including Chinese and Sanskrit, into Arabic.
During this time, many of the greatest intellects in history rose to their peak. This included the great Abu Nasr Al-Farabi, who is known for translating the Greek philosopher Aristotle's works.

"#Economics in #Nouns and #Verbs"

Below, we share key excerpts from SFI External Prof W. Brian Arthur's (@Stanford, @PARCinc) latest, available at arxiv.org/abs/2104.01868, which we recommend for its elucidation of key blind spots in economic thinking & how to address them... Image
"Different means 'see' differently—often they reveal different versions of the same object. #MRI looks at body parts and reveals soft tissue structure; #CT scanning looks at the same body parts and reveals bone structure. There is no 'correct' version of internal body parts."
"#Mathematics is powerful in #economics—and necessary—but I don’t believe that it is suited to describing all that is interesting in an economy. In fact I don’t believe that there is any privileged way to view the economy. There are useful ways and less useful ones."

European historians use a comparative notion of “balance of probabilities” when claiming knowledge transmission from Europe (Greece) to #India, but insist on the absolute notion of “beyond all reasonable doubt” for reverse transmission from India into #Europe. #decolonisation
They use this double standard to sustain a Eurocentric history writing against their dialogical competitors, even in situations where application of this principle would make a stronger case for East-to-West transmission.
This strategy has been used to perpetuate the racist notion that all knowledge flowed from ancient Europe.

For example, Neugebauer in 1962 used “priority, accessible communication routes and methodological similarities” to prove his belief that the astronomy contained

1/30 One of the major points of confusion about the #SAT and the #ACT specifically is what exactly is on the test. It’s always worth discussing the content of assessments, especially assessments that are so high-stakes.
2/30 When I started teaching shortly after college, I got into it as a part time job. I was a subject tutor, designing curricula and teaching math. I had always been comfortable with standardized tests, so it seemed (at the time) like that, too, would be straightforward work.
3/30 I’d never “prepped” for the tests myself when I was in HS, so I didn’t perceive/approach them as arenas that required strategy. It struck me that they were simply testing what I’d learned in school and my understanding of language and mathematical reasoning. #edutwitter
