🎉 #EUcitizensChampion is 1 year old. I founded it because I wanted to do more to support @the3million, the leading NGO protecting EU citizens’ rights. I am proud of what we have achieved so far. THANK YOU to donors & supporters who chose to help EU citizens at HOME in the UK ...
... HOME brings me to the amazing @GuitarMoog who’s done something very, very special: he’s recorded an album 🎵1,000 Days🎵 and is making it available *exclusively* via @eucitizenschamp in September. The album includes the song HOME used in the above video.
Learn more about @GuitarMoog’s motivation for recording the album 🎵1,000 Days🎵 and also why he chose to make it available exclusively via @eucitizenschamp on the album website here:

I am a scientist and #OneOfThe3Million EU citizens in the UK. #FOM has been essential, both for my professional career, as well as my personal life. It has allowed me to live, work, and build personal relationships with people from all over Europe. To me, #BrexitIsPersonal. 1/10
More than that though, #Brexit is about who we are as people & country: do we celebrate diversity and internationality, or do we hide away from the wider world, alone behind a wall? 2/10
May's witch-hunt against non-UK citizens (which started while she was in the HO where she implemented the #HostileEnvironment) is inexcusable and misguided. It needlessly constricted her negotiation space with the EU, resulting in the damaging deal currently on the table. 3/10

Today has been a very bad day for #The5Million. I had prepared myself for defending #FreedomOfMovement against @theresa_may. Turns out I should also have prepared myself for defending it against @HackneyAbbott who chose to pit EU citizens against other immigrants today. 1/
Earlier today I tweeted that I consider doing this - pit people against people -the lowest of the low. I expected it from @theresa_may and @sajidjavid, but I did not see coming that @HackneyAbbott would choose to do so too. This is always wrong, but especially in this case. 2/
Because:
1) It neglects the fact that freedom of movement is a *reciprocal* right, not preferential access, not a one-way street into the UK.
2) It is in the UK Govt's choice to treat immigrants from elsewhere in the way they are being treated - that is not a result of FoM. 3/

I followed it just fine. It doesn’t need a front page that says “you’re not wanted”. The examples of abuse and threats I cited were fuelled by front page after front page of hate, and many of us have experienced some form of backlash as a result of exactly those front pages. 1/
But if you really want a front page let’s go with this. Being called a “price” — that is not a statement screaming “you’re wanted”. But as you’ve already dismissed other examples provided by @The3Million I suspect this won’t satisfy you either. 2/
I understand why: this doesn’t fit with your pink fluffy Lexit story that all is fine. Well: tough luck. EU citizens are #AlreadyNotFine. In any case the bottom line is simple: you don’t get to choose a non-reality you like and then tell us that that’s our actual reality. 3/3

Today @theresa_may asked the country to #BackTheBrexitDeal. The main reason for it? People like me. EU citizens who chose to commit our lives to the UK. We, first and foremost, are the reason why Britons are being robbed of rights. This is the culmination of 2+ years of hate. 1/
The anti-EU migrant machinery began spinning in earnest on 20 February 2016, the day @David_Cameron announced the date of the EU referendum. From the pinning of people against people to bible references: we became a faceless mass for good that day. Here are just two examples. 2/
Instead of standing up to this, Stronger In just sought to sweep immigration, sweep us, under the carpet. Denied a vote, denied a voice, denied a platform. That was the greatest error of the Remain campaign and here is why. [Source: kcl.ac.uk/sspp/policy-in…] 3/

Being angry about Theresa May's despicable comments about queue-jumping EU citizens is not enough. RTs of my article and tweets are not enough. We need your help. To enable that I founded @eucitizenschamp in the summer. Please support it with a donation: gofundme.com/eucitizenscham…
I do not get any of the funds. They go directly to @The3Million to enable them to keep doing the amazing work they have been doing fo the last two years. To learn more about the campaign and what the money is being used for, read the Newsletter: spark.adobe.com/page/5SHstTFS1…
Ultimately the campaign is to make sure all of those #AlreadyNotFine are protected from... yes: Theresa May and her attempt to extend rather than end the #HostileEnvironment. That is what settled status, the status all EU citizens have to apply for if they want to stay, is about.

As the week comes to an end so too do my #AlreadyNotFine tweets. But there are many more stories to tell because #Brexit has already affected 1000s negatively. For me personally—apart from having to apply to stay in my home—that is certainly the case. I too am #AlreadyNotFine 1/
These are some of the things I’ve been told. Told in my own home. How can I move forward from this? As I said @FinalSayForAll #FSFABeehive, Brexit has already broken bonds I thought were unbreakable. And I’m not sure that there is a way to mend them. 2/
The many #AlreadyNotFine stories fellow #The5Million shared this week make it clear that that is something many wonder about. Check out the # and click here to read some more of those stories. eucitizenschampion.co.uk/already-not-fi… 3/

Millions of EU citizens made the choice to up sticks and make their homes in the UK. Made the choice years ago to commit to the UK to become your neighbours, colleagues, friends and family. That is why Brexit is so heartbreaking and why they are #AlreadyNotFine. Like Marlies. 1/
While I have been telling the #AlreadyNotFine stories on social media all week, and many of you have joined in, today I’m taking them to the streets of #Bath to raise awareness directly in conversation too. I hope to meet many people there. You can continue to join in here. 2/
So if you are an EU/EEA/Swiss citizen please do join in using #AlreadyNotFine. This is part of the #EUcitizensChampion awareness campaign and I hope many more people will become a champion by making a donation to the campaign. gofundme.com/eucitizenscham… 3/

To understand the impact of Brexit on people it is important to recognize the situation of EEA/Swiss citizens at home in the UK. While the #WithdrawalAgreement finally mentions them, they've had to live in even more limbo for 870+ days. They are #AlreadyNotFine. Like Xavier. 1/

Imagine you wake up one day after nearly 60 years of living in the UK and the day ends with news of #WithdrawalAgreement that confirms that, if Brexit goes ahead with that deal, you will have to prove your right to stay in your own home. You'd be #AlreadyNotFine. Like Christa. 1/

Hope. I had hoped, @guyverhofstadt, that the EU meant something. That the people at its heart - those #The5Million of us who live the EU by exercising FoM - meant something. But today the EU (& UK) showed us that that we don't. #citizensrights are not protected and it is 1/
shameful that you are selling what has happened as a protection of our rights. It makes me angry and sad. I have repeatedly called on the EU to be better than the UK govt. Now I know that it is not. Negotiators from both sides have failed to protect what they have always 2/
claimed was their first priority. In the UK, this will mean the creation of a new #Windrush generation in EU citizens. Due to how settled status is planned to be implemented it will create eternal limbo for millions. Our British friends in the EU are set to lose a right that 3/

Today it’s time to highlight that the negative impact of #Brexit on EU citizens isn’t just a story about individuals, but also of how families and loved ones are affected. Deal or not, they too are #AlreadyNotFine. Like Juliette and her family. 1/

Since news of a possible #BrexitDeal first broke I have received 347 emails and messages so far from fellow EU citizens. Completely unprecedented! The anxiety is palpable. I suspect it’s a combination of knowing that, no matter what happens, many of us are #AlreadyNotFine, 1/
coupled with general Brexit-related anxieties. For me the messages primarily drive home that I really do not know how we are ever meant to come back from this. A deal won’t simple lead to a flicking of a switch. The genies released form their bottles won’t simply disappear. 2/
Of course no-deal would be more catastrophic, but one way or the other this will not be over at the end of next March no matter what happens next. Certainly not for #The5Million. 3/
