1) A favorite @jbfc_ny story for 2020: when Greta Gerwig came to the Burns with @LittleWomen just before Christmas, she began quoting Walter Murch @wmurcharchives as someone who’d influenced her.
2) THREAD: If you’re not sure who Walter Murch is, look up the opening sequence of #ApocalypseNow. He put those layers of sound and image together. Now google Walter Murch. Now scrape yourself yourself off the floor. He’s an unimaginably important film innovator.
3) I was able to tell Greta that Walter Murch had been to the Burns that very week. And had stayed overnight in the house we have for visiting artists. Same house #BongJoonHo lived in for a while as he finished “Okja.” He (Murch) said he’d liked the town, especially the diner.
