@TedLasso Chronicles, #4… because I don’t really know what to call these things I write…

On Beard

Prologue: about the Beard episode- I have no idea. This isn’t about Beard After Hours. Apologies, I still don’t fully get that one *dodges flying objects thrown by Beard stans*
Also: I don’t know some of what I’m writing here- I’m no psychologist. These are my hunches.

Ted Lasso, tho, isn’t about father/son relationships as lots say, it’s a loving portrayal of the intense subject of trauma told in a brilliantly funny and relatable way.

Very interesting data unveiled by the #WallStreetJournal, provided by @AntennaData.
To this day, ##WonderWoman1984, #Hamilton & #Greyhound still hold the records of spikes in daily new subscriptions for #HBOMax, #DisneyPlus & #AppleTVPlus, respectively.
But the data provided by #Antenna to the #WSJ also revealed an inconvenient truth: The Phantom menace of Churn is real. Almost 50% or more of the original subscribers of movies like #WW84 and #Hamilton are gone after 6 months in a streaming service.
The data provided by #Antenna also show how big series such as #Netflix #BigMouth or #Hulu’s #HandmaidsTale although not attracting as many subscriptions as big films, do a slightly better job in retaining most of subscribers attracted during weekend of release for longer.

More than two years in the making, it's finally #AppleTVPlus launch day. There's been a lot of focus on its new shows (understandably so!) and what it doesn't have (old stuff.) But what's Apple's bigger play with TV+ --and the TV app? I wanted to find out (thread ahoy)
Since Apple hired two former Sony execs to run TV, people in Hollywood have been trying to figure out what the heck was going on in Culver City (where Apple video is based.) Was the plan to buy a studio/network & knock off Netflix? Maybe it just wanted to sell a few more phones?
As it started assembling creative execs and spending the now-required Crazy Sums of Money, I started talking to sources close to Apple about what the strategy was. TBH, many admitted they had no clue. But one thing I heard from a few was: "Pay attention to the TV app."

Subscriptions: #DisneyPlus did it right by allowing D23 members to pay upfront. #AppleMusic Family needs to offer annual pricing like it does for a single account. Same goes with #AppleTVPlus and #AppleArcade. I’m not asking for discounts but for an easier way to gift or receive.
Following that thought...

List of Subscriptions by 2020:
Apple Arcade $4.99/pcm
Apple Music Family $14.99/pcm
Apple TV+ $4.99/Nov 2020
Club MacStories $50/year
Disney+ Paid until Nov 2022
HBO Max $9.99?/pcm
iCloud 2TB £6.99/pcm
NetFlix 4K $13.99/pcm
Nord VPN $38/year (multibuy)
NetFlix will probably disappear from that list and become a dip-in dup-out binge fest. Besides their gam plan is to be acquired in the next 4/5 years.
