We’re in a growing energy crisis that seems like it’s going to get worse – I’ll get to that later. The tenor of the conference here has been a combo of some dread – the reality of the surge in oil prices, emerging shortages in fuel and unfinished oils, and rising natgas prices.
The original plan was to do a lot of talk of renewables and transition – even though the usual first couple days would have been dominated by oil. But that’s not how it turned out, of course, and the conference organizers recognized that shift. #OOTT

#BREAKING: At-least one ballistic missile has hit the #Aramco's oil facility or possibly in vicinity of that near #Dhahran in east of #SaudiArabia.
#Update: Per #SaudiArabia's defense authorities, it was a combined attack as they used missiles and loitering drones. At-least three drones were shot down by Saudi Air Defense Command.

The last few days of #US military build up make a lot of sense now. The killing of #Iran Quds Force commander Suleimani cannot be overstated as an escalatory event, even if US will have intended it as ultimate show of force.
Suleimani was the most visible face of Iran’s fight against #IslamicState and US in the region. A huge loss of knowledge and expertise for IRGC and humiliating for #Khamenei after his tweet taunting #Trump. The question now must be what an Iranian response will be.
Iran can not afford not to respond to this level of attack, but does not necessarily have to respond immediately. They will understand how vulnerable Trump is going into the electoral period. US military and energy assets across #Iraq are at high risk of rocket and mortar attack.
