Als der Baggerfahrer Anton Wesp am 22. Juni 1946 mit seinem Kettenschaufelbagger im Braunkohletagebau Grube Michel bei Frankleben ein Keramikgefäß schrammte, kamen 17 Sichelklingen zum Vorschein. (1/4) #archäologie #SachsenAnhalt 
Einen Monat später fand Wesp etwas nördlich des 1. Depots zwei weitere. Eines dieser beiden Depots war vollkommen unversehrt und enthielt 132 Sichelklingen und 14 Lappenbeile, die in einem mit vier Steinplatten bedeckten Tontopf kunstvoll arrangiert waren. (2/4)
Die Funde von Frankleben datieren zwischen das 13. und das 10. Jh. v. Chr. und stellen nach ihrem Gewicht mit 45kg den größten Bronzeschatz Mitteleuropas dar. Die Depots können im Museum Halle im Abschnitt Glutgeboren besichtigt werden.

2/ Egyptian faience was a kind of glazed pottery, often in a range of blue & blue-green shades. The shiny surface was even compared favorably to gold. Dozens of faience objects were found in Tutankhamun's tomb including ritual vessels.
