Roundtable #2 is underway on Museums and Performance #UIMuseumSymposium
.@JulietBellow is grounding the audience in questions and concerns of performance and dance in the museum context: hard, unforgiving floors, exclusive selection of the type of dance appropriate for the museum context #UIMuseumSymposium
.@JulietBellow believes museums can become spatial and intellectual explorations for dancers and choreographers. Museums are influencing the production of new choreographies and the creation of new ones, whether or not they recognize it #UIMuseumSymposium

So, @UkNatArchives propose changes to document ordering to 24 files a day, what is the practical impact on some stake holders such as historians?

Grab a cuppa. Pull up a chair. We may be here a lil' while. /1
#history #archives
In short, archival work is a lesson in time management. Historians particularly usually want to blitz an eye watering amount of material, scraping for any scraps of information.

A good number work part time or are on low incomes, so prosperous productivity is essential. /2
Technology has really helped.

I personally like to stack up files and blitz through them. I'm one of a majority who photographs material to view later.

Sure you may skim a page on site, but the real study is at home/in the office, often working late /3

@3Days3Nights The real question is, why did #Q choose to have 93 days of #darkness, and why was "dk" chosen as a coded form of #Silent #Running?

In '93, after a 2nd #Referendum, #Denmark (country #code DK) ratified the #Maastricht #Treaty creating the #EU.
What if there was #Voter #Fraud?
@3Days3Nights In those days, there was a flaw in #Cisco #routers which allowed the #CIA to hack into the #EU #negotiations and monitor all #electronic #comms, including #VOIP. I know this from an #Internet #insider. This data is likely now in the #NSA's #archives. So, yes, proof of #EU #fraud.
@3Days3Nights I'm not saying for 100% sure that there was #Fraud in the #Denmark #referendum that ratified #Maastricht. And I'm not saying for 100% sure that the #USA has proof that the very #Creation of the #EU was #fraudulently #accomplished. But the clamor for a 2nd #Brexit #vote...

1/ Happy Wednesday afternoon @OpenGLAM community! Today we're hoping to talk a little more about the L and the A in #GLAM: #Archives and #Libraries and some of their experiences with #OpenAccess re. Indigenous materials and belongings :)
2/ #Openness & #access are inseparable & access is a core value of librarianship & the archival profession. In both the American Library Association @ALALibrary Core Values & Int'l Federation of Library Associations & Institutions @IFLA Code of Ethics access is @ the forefront.
3/ The ALA’s Core Values of Librarianship state that "all information...should be readily, equally, & equitably accessible to all library users." Likewise IFLA pinpoints Access to Information as the core mission of librarians & other information workers.

1/ An archival puzzle (always look at the back page): Accounting for foundlings, "debauched girls" & Colbert's projects for Louis XIV's gloire. Or how little details speak to metanarratives. I see a note in my book mss cites a 1660-1671 register for 1650s material. Hhm
2/ The source is a Hôtel-Dieu register & the catalogue description is "Registre de remises des enfants exposés et abandonès à la Charité 1660-1671." This document is on line w/ a lot of other great material about e-mod foundlings digitized by @ArchivesdeLyon.
3/ I looked at the document and noticed "register" seems a bit formal for a sheaf of paper tied with string and the first page includes only a brief note. Frustrated! Then I looked at the last page ...

STOP REMOVING ARCHIVAL LABOR FROM THE STORY! Multiple #archivists helped hotel for over a year - images found on our digtl colls AND we helped the reporter w history. Yet, these photos were "lost to time and the archive" until the Omni "discovered" them whas11.com/article/news/l…
The hotel "discovered" the photos in our digital collections. But first they went through the photo archivists who processed them, the digital initiatives librarian who runs our digital collections, the student worker who scanned them, the metadata librarian who created metadata
Then our local history archivist, along with others in the department, worked with reporter to tell him history behind images, then we put him in contact with local historian who wrote about black musicians in town.
