During the last 3 months, I've met many politicians & public officials across the world. Some officials wonder why Ukrainians, especially civil society, are so pushy regarding weapons support from allies. Does civil society actually have to deal with #ArmUkraine?
Russia has started the full-scale genocidal war in Ukraine. My last 117 mornings are starting with reading necrologies on social media. Thousands of people are dying because they are Ukrainians. They could be alive if Armed Forces of Ukraine had enough weapons
Now russia is not hiding they are using famine across the poorest countries in the world as warfare. This is much bigger than the genocidal war in Ukraine, this is a war against the developing world and the basic values of the free democratic world.

Fighters are needed to establish air superiority, protect critical infrastructure and ground troops, prevent hostile bombing attacks, intercept cruise missiles, counter enemy’s airborne operations and to escort friendly attack aircraft..

🇷🇺air force is enormous, over 10 times as large as @KpsZSU. Without sufficient anti-aircraft systems, 🇷🇺will have free reign to destroy everything – artillery, command posts, tanks and entire 🇺🇦 cities.

Artillery is the “bread and butter” of war. Ukraine’s “main” artillery calibers are 122 and 152 mm. The problem with 152 mm is that #Ukraine DOES NOT produce ammo of this type (all it has is the legacy from the Soviet war machine).

Thus, even though 🇺🇦has 152 mm cannons, it is quickly running out of ammo. Given the intensity of the conflict, it won’t be long before 🇺🇦 doesn’t have any 152 mm ammo left. If that happens, 🇺🇦 forces won’t be able to shoot back, and 🇷🇺artillery will overwhelm them.

Wrong. It has nothing to do with appeasing Russia. There is a very real risk of tipping Russian decision making across the nuclear threshold. A #NFZ involves US/NATO combat missions against Russian aircraft, ground-based and naval air defence systems, and airfields. 3/
