This #InternationalWomensDay2022 let’s revisit the progressive judgments of the Indian Courts reaffirming the rights of the women and providing them better protection of the law.

#ICLU celebrates 21 judgments of the #SupremeCourt on this #WomensDay
1. The Apex Court providing for detailed guidelines for safety of women at workplace in Vishakha & Ors. v. State of Rajasthan & Ors. (1997) directed employers to provide a mechanism for redressal of grievances of employees. (1/2)
These guidelines were eventually formalised as legislation with the passing of the Sexual Harrasment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. (2/2)

#MaharashtraGovernment is now used to murders being documented as suicides. I have already made it clear in my letter. I’m very strong. If I’m dead, it can only be a murder. #SSR was killed. He did not get a chance to say this, so I have stated my point much before the event.
I filed a writ in #HighCourt hoping that the judicial system will help. But the court does not find this issue emergency so does not come on board. If I was an actress, It would be easy. The only way left now is to fight alone with the help of public of India #myrightmyfight

1/22 Some thoughts on how the #PoliceCrimeSentencingCourtsBill falls far short of international standards on the right of #PeacefulAssembly – especially the UN Human Rights Committee's recently adopted #GeneralComment37 on #Article21 ICCPR
ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/CC…
2/22 “States must promote an enabling environment for the exercise of the right of #peacefulassembly without discrimination, and put in place a legal and institutional framework within which the right can be exercised effectively” (#GeneralComment37, para 24) …
3/22 The #PolicingBill fundamentally undermines an effective right of peaceful assembly by failing to recognize that assemblies “are a legitimate use of public and other spaces” which “may entail by their very nature a certain level of disruption to ordinary life” (GC37, para 47)

Telangana High Court on Wednesday emphasised that the "medical emergency" of the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be cited as an excuse to violate the right to life and health under Article 21 of the Constitution #Telengana #coronavirus #COVIDー19
The observation was made in response to the State's submissions that during a medical emergency or a war emergency, anything can be done by the State, including the restriction of the right to health under Article 21.
