Ascension Day (the most neglected holy day on the church calendar in America) is not about Jesus becoming the first astronaut and blasting off to a galaxy far, far away.

If we don’t understand Ascension Day, our political theology will be compromised. We’ll probably think that Jesus has gone off to heaven where he’s hanging out until he can return to earth and actually begin his reign. So in the meantime some version of Caesar is Lord. 🤮
