- #ATLUTD´s fans will know Heinze´s most repeated keyword: POSITIONING. For him, tactical schemes (static) change with positioning (dynamic), so they have less value.
2/21 It means that (like Bielsa) he wants multipurpose players for #ATLUTD, those who can change from one position to another quickly. As such, LW/RW are WBs and FBs, FWs are wingers and insiders (CM/LM/RM), HM are CBs, etc.
- Heinze always wants a free player to DEF and ATK.
3/21 #ATLUTD would be much more mechanized than Tata´s team, because Heinze seeks to automate at least triangulations (2-player passing with receptor) and eventually man-to-man markings.
That´s why team transformation is slower and insists on its implementation without changes.

Remember when Atlanta hired de Boer because he was going to continue their high pressing, high energy style?

We’re 50 games in and that’s obvious not the case. De Boer’s gotten results but not sure if Eales and Bocanegra knew what they were getting themselves into. #ATLUTD
And yeah Atlanta are missing Josef Martinez, but teams around MLS do a lot more and play with a lot more attacking prowess/energy with significantly less talent.

De Boer got results in year one but this style and mentality can’t be close to what the ATL FO had in mind 🤷‍♂️

When Atlanta United's staff sees a South American in his early 20s being relegated to the bench and available on a discount Image
The following are screenshots of players' minutes before they secured transfers or loans to #ATLUTD .

1. Yamil Asad
2. L. Gonzalez Pirez
3. Tito Villalba
4. Franco Escobar ImageImageImageImage
Now to round this point out, here are the minutes of Rossetto and rumored signing Manuel Castro.

Castro would actually be a much more consistent player in his team than any of those previous 4 Atlanta United players mentioned. ImageImage

Atlanta United are sitting on 3 open international slots and now an even bigger pile of available TAM/GAM after the sales of Gressel and Villalba.

CCL starts in 18 days.

I'd expect this week to (obviously) be pretty massive. #ATLUTD
There's the Brazilian central/attacking midfielder who looks nice and is apparently close to completing his move.

Other than that, the rumors of the Paraguayans are as murky as ever and there's not a lot firm. I'm sure it will be much clearer this time next week.
Something Atlanta's FO learned the hard way with Pity/Almiron was letting the Pity news get out early and it hurting their negotiating leverage.

There's a good chance that Atlanta has been waiting to do more work *after* getting a clean slate as to not interrupt negotiations.

Ezequiel Barco was denied a call up to this tournament by #ATLUTD. No doubt he's watching this match.

Will be interesting to see if Atlanta releases him to go to the Olympics should Argentina qualify.

TBH, in Atlanta United’s system, signing the left back is the much better option.

Arzamendia started all 4 games for Paraguay at leftback at Copa America. Villasanti isn’t going to come close to being what Nagbe was in Atlanta.
Justin Meram and other traditionally attacking players played left wingback for #ATLUTD in 2019 under FdB.

Arzamendia is about as offensive as left backs come and will be a much more natural fit. He’s also got a pretty sweet left foot. 😳

According to @ABCTVpy, 22-year-old Paraguayan international midfielder Mathías Villasanti is reportedly in negotiations with Atlanta United.

Currently with Cerro Porteño, Villasanti made his debut for Paraguay in October. #ATLUTD
Villasanti is the definition of a 2-way midfielder. Wants to get forward more than Nagbe did (while not having quite the same feathery touch) but is much much much more willing to get his hands dirty on both sides of the ball.
Villasanti was considered by many the best midfielder in Paraguay in 2019 and got his debut with the national team because of the impact he makes every game. He’s always around the ball.

And when he gets the ball at his feet, he’s capable of doing things like this 👇
