This housing property was the first federally-backed public housing project for African Americans in the entire United States.

A lot of us who have been out there all month popped up early & the vibe was very Austin. We were not expecting 1 for them not to show up (whooo!) and 2 for the @Austin_Police to become increasingly violent. 2/
at around 5:30 a few protesters began blocking the street allotting room for the continued but gradual flow of traffic. APD began blocking the roads to protect us but then abruptly stopped leaving us to face multiple drivers who swerved & edged towards us in their cars 3/
