1/8 Unless you are the luckiest man in the world you will find it impossible to get a good kulcha outside of Amritsar.

There is a reason for that. At most restaurants, there is just one tandoor and everything goes into that.
2/8 But you can’t cook a good kulcha in a hot tandoor like you can cook a naan or a tandoori roti. A kulcha needs its own special tandoor kept at a gentle temperature.
3/8 Only in Punjab are there so many restaurants dedicated to kulchas which have tandoors kept at perfect kulcha temperatures. The cook will roll out the dough in layers, smearing each layer with a coating of ghee.

THREAD from Jen Ferrari:"There was a thread recently concerning the quality of student artwork in TAB classrooms. Just today, a student turned a piece that I think perfectly highlights the difference in quality between "show-ready" products of project-based art rooms 1/10
"...and the work that comes from process-based TAB rooms. Before reading beyond this <tweet>, I recommend first looking closely at the photo of the student's work. Allow yourself to have an honest first opinion: what do you assume or think of it? 2/10

Those of us who affirmed our own agency and power by learning from and with our moms. My mom’s stories are her own but she and I together have unpacked many cultural myths to learn better self compassion, willingness to identify racism, less perfectionism.
💪🏽💪🏻💪🏿 @DrvanTilburg
This is a type of trauma many WOC/POC experience. My mom’s hair is extremely thick, textured. I recall her being very fixated on making sure her own hair & our hair was always incredibly neat.

More recently I’ve come to understand this matches an experience of having black hair.
The so-called “model minority “is taught to align with white culture, to suppress oneself in order to layer under & serve white supremacy.

I have worked to remove internalized racism, colorism, self hate & learned from #blackexcellence on:

In his masterclass about crafting an effective pitch deck @YourStoryCo’s #TechSparks2020, @P_Kemps highlights some aspects that seem trivial but are important, some that are easy to miss, and some that mustn’t be missed. A 🧵-
1/ The title is as important as anything else in your deck. It should define your company in a single declarative sentence and can also be about your #mission & #vision.
2/ Tell a #story to explain your #purpose, tying your idea to a broader shift taking place in the world. Your company’s reason to be should be based on unique market/consumer insights driven by one or many of these changes 👇

Agree. There is a lot more to unpack and there are not simple policy or regulatory fixes. If you think the feds coming down hard on what the population uses to connect and communicate, you’re not a student of history, sociology, psychology, etc.

I hear all the old, harmful ideas repeated by many who should be at cutting edge of technology. Whereas what @DrvanTilburg describes, if merely digitized to “control” social media, will not work, will harm #SoMe #AI #SciComm #professionalism
From the #healthcare lens there are these potential issues of #AI and #bias including as relates to #COVID19. Yet 30% of business are now using #ArtificialIntelligence in some form. Horse out the barn.

So what is the answer? Ban? Control?

No.

Mark Valencia—Adjunct Senior Scholar, National Institute for #SouthChinaSea Studies, Haikou, China—uses Xinhua-like language to accuse @GregPoling @CSIS @AsiaMTI of "Beating the drum for the narrative of the Chinese '#MaritimeMilitia' threat" in #IPPReview
ippreview.com/index.php/Blog…
Valencia cited my piece with @KennedyMaritime in @ForeignAffairs, but that's a 2016 publication.

The latest is here: andrewerickson.com/2019/01/the-ch… & apdf-magazine.com/maritime-numbe….

Instead of piling on @GregPoling, let's "Seek Truth from (Many) Facts" regarding #China's #MaritimeMilitia.
And while we're at it, can those in the know give us the full scoop on #IPPReview?

"operated by International Public Policy Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-registered company which is independent of any organization"

Wording sounds rather abstract & mysterious..
