There were originally planned to be 3 Avatar sequels, but during development Avatar 2 was split into two films and now there will be 4 avatar sequels. The reason that the Avatar 2 was split was because the script was too long and they didn’t want to cut it down for time.
The BBC said in an article, that the title of Avatar 3 would be Avatar: The Seed Bearer.
In February 2018, James Cameron said in an interview the title for Avatar 3 hadn't been decided at that time and this was one of the titles being considered for the film.

From the start, Jim had always described it as sort of a "badass flying fish". We always knew it was going to have 3 modes of movement: swimming underwater, "skimming" on top of the water in "ground effect" (an aircraft term I admit I had to google the first time Jim used it),
and full on flying for short periods: basically everything a flying fish could do...

My imposter syndrome had ALREADY been riding incredibly high (getting a tour of the #Avatar2 concept art gallery had already put the fear of god in me), but after he said that I nearly passed out. After picking myself up off the floor, I got to work.
We went through a few dozen "blue sky" exploratory versions, and within a few days I found myself in a room with the one and only #JamesCameron. No pressure again!! 🙃

L'exotisme, ce n'est pas que les (très) belles images, c'est les gens aussi. Et pour ce qui est des na'vis dans cet opus, je n'ai pas du tout été dépaysé.
C'est juste des humains à l'état tribal. Forcément que la connexion à la nature est plus présente dans ces conditions.

After the movie started, I felt that the probably kids who were sitting in the back were kicking. And then the seats were kind of bobbing up and down and in various directions. Looked back couple of time, but no kids in the back! Then my son informed that it is 4D -
meaning that to give additional effects seats will move in sync with what is happening on the screen. So when a scene with rain came up, there was mist of water spray, when wind was howling on the screen, there was strong breeze going by your ears,

So it's a future of ecological collapse and amazingly high tech on a mega-industrial scale (those starships must represent thousands of terawatt-years of energy in launch costs alone @anderssandberg @robert_zubrin ?)
In which case it represents the dark side of decoupling. Earth's civilisation is clearly way beyond fossil-fuel use and capable of synthesising just about anything, but the Earth's environment is still going to shit.
