More fact checking from today’s Senate briefing on #AZAudit

CLAIM: Maricopa County received 74,000 more mail-in ballots than we sent.

FACTS: In Maricopa County, we allow people to vote early in two ways: 1) by mail and 2) in-person at Vote Centers. These are all considered early votes.
The people who vote in-person use ballots provided at a Vote Center. This is not a new practice, so it's not unusual that we would have more early votes than mail-in ballots sent.

I’m back as #azauditpool reporter, where the ‘machine count’ has begun. It started just a few minutes before 2pMT. @CNN is sending out the live pool signal for local stations. Pls record on your end, stations
The man in the salmon colored top is Brian Blehm, Cyber Ninjas attorney. We were told the AZ Senate is running this machine hand count but Blehm is here & Doug Logan has also been here #azauditpool
A source, who has been on the floor of this so-called audit, tells me he recognizes all of these workers from the Coliseum and they are Cyber Ninjas subcontractor workers. #azauditpool

Here's the latest on the Arizona election audit, from spokesperson Randy Pullen:

Pullen says that the official ballot hand count wrapped up Monday, other than braille ballots (fewer than 100).

The counting we are seeing still happening is one of two things ...

#azauditpool
1. They are going back and recounting some boxes as a sampling method, to compare to the original count.

2. They are reviewing boxes where discrepancies were noted in original count, such as duplicate ballots w/o matching originals, or boxes w/ unexpected number of ballots.
Arizona election audit ballot recount & inspection is estimated to be complete by Saturday, June 26, Pullen said. The coliseum lease ends June 30.

No estimate from Pullen on how many ballots left to inspect. 15-20 pallets still have boxes on them, out of 46 total. #azauditpool

Hey 👋 I’m back #azauditpool Image
I see 4-5 ballot counting tables still operating, so recount continues

~50 inspection tables

And 5 teams of two people each sorting ballots in some way. Not sure what they are doing there. ImageImageImage
They have changed their ballot storage system since last time I was here. Last week, this cage was almost empty, and it has always held the ballots that hadn’t been touched yet. Now, it has ballots that already have their colored tape on it indicating they have been counted. Image

A few more #azauditpool updates before I am kicked out at 1.

Randy Pullen says that more than 1.7M of 2.1M ballots have been counted.
Randy Pullen is giving a tour to:

Vernon Jones, candidate for Georgia governor

with him are his chief of staff Heather Wallace and Bernard Kerik, former NYC police commissioner during Giuliani’s term.
Georgia gubernatorial candidate Vernon Jones gave a press conference about an hour ago. He got confrontational with me when asked if he would support an audit that was being funded by Democrats and workers recruited by Democrats. I will share clips here

One more update for #azauditpool... I saw @AZKellyT in the press box giving an interview with @christina_bobb. I asked her to talk and she said she would only talk about federal-only voting, which she believes need to be changed in Arizona.
I will put the transcript of that interview in the press pool notes. Basically, she says that people who vote on the "federal only" ballot should have to provide more identification to prove that they can vote. Says current law makes it easy for them to vote under fake name.
Townsend said this audit is not separating federal-only ballots for inspection. She said she wasn't here to visit the audit but to give an interview with @christina_bobb about federal-only voting.

Here's a few more updates for the #azauditpool, from Randy Pullen:

They are focused more on the ballot inspection now. They have 24 more empty ballot inspection tables with equipment and workers coming either later today or tomorrow. That would add to 32 going right now.
They are inspecting about 80,000 ballots a day. They have estimated they need to inspect about 60,000 a day to make it by the June 30 deadline.

I committed a cardinal sin & forgot to ask how many they had counted & inspected as of today. Will ask if Randy comes back, he might.
We talked a lot about what they are doing at the paper inspection tables. I know for sure:
- They are looking at the filled-in bubble for the presidential race to see whether it was filled in by a machine or human.
- They are looking at the edge of the ballot...

I’m back at the coliseum as the pool reporter this morning. Very apparent that there has been a shift since last week from focusing on counting to focusing on ‘inspecting.’ #azauditpool
@JanPostmaUSA is here in the press box, too. He works for Dutch media orgs. Everybody send your welcome. This is definitely gaining international attention the last few weeks.
There are 20 counting tables up and running.

There are 29 inspecting tables up and running.

There are 9 orange shirt observers and I don't see anyone from the Secretary of State's office this morning. #azauditpool

Good morning! I’m currently the lone reporter inside the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the #AZAuditPool. Currently there are 14 counting tables and 8 inspection tables in action. @KTAR923
Audit liaison Ken Bennett told Monday’s #AZAuditPool reporter @JenAFifield, a group of Pennsylvania lawmakers are expected to tour the coliseum this AM. It’s unclear why/what they’re looking for. I hope to interview them and get an update from the audit liaison at some point.

I'm the #azauditpool reporter this morning. I just got many updates from Ken Bennett and Randy Pullen. Here's the latest on the Arizona election audit:
As of Saturday, they say they counted half of the county's 2.1 million ballots.

There will be a third shift of counting for the first time tonight, from 8 p.m. to 1 p.m. There will be fewer volunteers for this shift than the others.
They say that yesterday, on Memorial Day, they counted the most number of ballots they have ever counted in a day.

When I asked how many, they said they wouldn't tell me ... That's "confidential information" for the contractors.

I pressed them on this...

New: Being told this morning that Ken Bennett will no longer be handing media for Arizona election audit. Instead, Senators @FannKfann and @warrenpetersen, who have typically not been inside the coliseum and taking procedural questions. #azauditpool
...
This morning @KyungLahCNN and her team were given a phone number by the security lead we refer to as Cowboy Hat Andy because he won’t give us his name. Told that’s the new media number.

Yet in typical audit fashion when I called Ken Bennett about this...
Bennett answered his phone this morning and told me he had not heard about this new setup.

Then I called the number I was given and Randy Pullen, former AZ GOP chair who has been involved in the audit, answered. Pullen...

Just got to my home away from home, which has now been described in national media as not just ‘decrepit’ but also ‘suburban’ ‘aging’ and a ‘basketball arena.’

I’ll tweet today as they move the ballots back in here from a storage building. Graduations are over. #azauditpool
Here’s the building that has stored the ballots and machines for the last nine days. Watch the inside of this building and the coliseum at a audit.org
The most important news today is that the CNN videographer just mistook me for a broadcast reporter. And to that I say

The 2020 elections were run w/ integrity, the results certified by the county & state were accurate, & the 2 independent audits conducted by the County are the true final word on the subject. We know auditing. The Senate Cyber Ninja audit is not a real audit. #azsenateaudit
#RealAuditorsDont: Release false “conclusions” without understanding what they are looking at. @MaricopaVote did not delete tabulation data. Board will lay out facts in Monday meeting. Read Chairman @jacksellers statement here: content.govdelivery.com/accounts/AZMAR… #AZSenateAudit Image

So. AZ audit packs up for the week. Workers have gone home. But two in orange shirts remain, talking to Cyber Ninjas' attorney Bryan Blehm.

Why do they have special access. I'm 👀.

(Please don't respond to this tweet naming people, that's not my intention. But this is curious.)
Hugs goodbye as they leave. One observer walks out with Blehm. #azauditpool
Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan remains with some Wake Tech employees.

Good morning. I’m on pool duty this morning at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and I’ll be providing audit updates for the next few hours. #azauditpool
Looks like everyone is still mostly getting prepared for the day. Of the 44 counting tables that are set up, only 13 appear to have people at them. It doesn’t look like anyone has started counting yet. #azauditpool
6 of the 13 ballot analysis tables are occupied. They look like they’re examining images at some of them. Others are waiting for things to get started.

I have many updates to share after talking to Senate Liaison Ken Bennett. Here we go ...

First update, he says they are approaching 210,000 ballots counted. #azauditpool
John Brakey said that there is an independent journalist named Steve Rosenfeld on the audit floor. Bennett confirmed that.

Asked why they had different access then the rest of the journalists, Bennett said I got to go on the floor... I pointed out that others ...
hadn't had the chance. "We allowed him to go on the floor for a few hours like we allowed other people to do in the beginning."

No other response.

I’m here, at what the New York Times called the ‘decrepit local coliseum’ #azauditpool
It's 8:30 am and counting has begun at 4 tables. Still getting up and running here. #azauditpool

Happy Monday! I’m at Veterans Memorial Coliseum as your #azauditpool reporter this morning. I’ll be here until 1 p.m.
In addition to the three #azauditpool reporters, OAN’s @christina_bobb is also here in the media area with a cameraman. During @JMShumway ‘s shift Friday, Gateway Pundit had someone here as well.
Just chatted with @BennettArizona . He didn’t have an update on ballot count — said somewhere between 150k-175k. I asked him about this box, a new addition over the weekend.

“It’s a server box, and I don’t know exactly what it’s doing, but I’m curious to find out as well.”

Today is my shift at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the Maricopa County election audit. Media was supposed to get in at 8 a.m. but wasn’t allowed in until after 9. #azauditpool
In the middle of the room are five laptops and five printers. But they don’t seem to be printing anything at the moment #azauditpool
There were 3 boxes in the fenced area labeled “complete” when I got here but two men just moved them out of view, so unclear how many they have finished.

Okay, so an employee with Wake TSI, one of the subcontracting companies working in the coliseum just walked all the way into the stands from the floor, stood right in front of me and took a photo. Just me.

I have no idea why. I asked, got no response. He walked away.
My shift inside the Coliseum is up, so I've left the building.
I still don't know why this happened.
I was in my assigned area, with two security guards behind me. I am not operating the live feed you all are seeing.
I did not get a photo of this man. #azauditpool
However, I won't be intimidated for doing my job. Journalists have a right to witness what's happening inside, report and document it.

You all have a right to know what's happening.

We will continue to be present and do our jobs.

AMAZON DELIVERY? Yesterday, #azauditpool reporters/ cameras spotted this... Lots of people & officials surrounding a box. Then, @BennettArizona walking off with a clearly marked Amazon box.
No idea what was inside..
He put it down at a table that looks like it handles ballot box processing. Then, someone set it down in a corner (away from other boxes) in the cage where ballots sit.
#azauditpool
Today, on the @broomheadKTAR @BennettArizona said "Yesterday...we opened a box of ballots and after they counted down several inches of ballots all of a sudden there were a bunch of papers in there that had voter names and addresses on it."

There’s 20 tables where 3-person teams are examining ballots. Each table has a turntable with 2 stands where they put the ballots. Each ballot spends 11-15 seconds on the stand as counters examine them and mark down their findings. #azauditpool
One of the tables has a bracket with a camera they’re using to take images of both sides of the ballots, which appear on a laptop screen. Every counting table had a laptop, but it looks like only one is being used to examine images of the ballots. #azauditpool
At 6 other tables, workers take photos of one side of the ballots with cameras mounted on brackets, and the images go to a laptop. Then another person shines a UV light on it. Then the ballot goes into the cardboard box it was originally stored in. #azauditpool

Before I leave the coliseum, here’s a few overall observations. #azauditpool 1/?
The procedures for counting ballots seem more defined than on Friday and the counting seems to be running smoothly. #azauditpool
In this room, you can observe the ballot counting only. Somewhere else in this coliseum, auditors are examining the county’s voting machines. The media was not given access to that area, and the livestream does not show that area, either. #azauditpool
