First a little recap - the sleeper I travelled in was manufactured in the 1980s. Doesn’t. Feel like it! Oh and it’s not the fastest one either.
The train also features this large children’s play den. There are all sorts of toys in box on the left.

Day one will bring us from my hometown Delémont in Switzerland to our first stopover in Venice, closely following the route of the Simplon Orient Express after Lausanne.
So the trip begins with my typical commute, the RE to Bienne. Thankfully, after exiting the foggy Jura mountains, the visible Alp-peaks hint to a beautiful weather 😄
Am Freitag geht es für drei Wochen auf Reisen. Natürlich mit der Bahn!

So #kofferpackgeraeusch und fertig. Sogar noch was Platz für spontane Käufe während #latonatorach übrig. Eintrittskarten und Schlafwagenreservierungen ordnungsgemäß ausgedruckt. Dazu noch PLN und CHF-Münzgeldbestände eingepackt. Morgen geht es los zum #tweinup nach Würzburg.
Jede ordentliche #bahnzeit beginnt an einer Straßenbahnhaltestelle. Auf geht’s zu drei Wochen mit vielen netten Menschen beim #tweinup, #dachnug49 und #pascomsummit. Und natürlich mit ganz viel #Eisenbahn! #latonatorach
Im Gegensatz zu anderen bearbeite ich fast alle meiner Fotos. Drum dauerts oft ein wenig länger, aber hier sind die Highlights meiner gestrigen Reise nach #Hinterstoder.

Der eigentliche Plan war einen Zug früher zu nehmen. Aber früh aufstehen ist nicht ganz so mei Sach. Außerdem wars durch die Schneefahrbahn ned ganz so einfach zum Bahnhof zu radeln.
Zum Glück hab ich in weiser Voraussicht im IC einen Radplatz reserviert.

Started the day walking to the centre through the "Women's Market".
The old baths is one of the mains sights, now a historical museum.
A reminder of the "thermal" past are the fountains of hot spring water, where people go to fill their bottles.

The trip starts at Barcelona Sants station. Quite a horrible station for such a beautiful city.
We board the suburban train R3 towards Latour de Carol. One of the only 4 trains per day that make the full 166 km trip.
Tickets bought from the machine, 11.50€, they never sell out

First difficulty of this trip: good luck finding this "commuter" train on a travel searcher!
Not even the mighty @DB_Bahn knows about this train !!
