Saw #PS2. The historical review follows. Qualitywise movie is watchable, (not a #Bahubali), totally @AishwaryaRaiWeb movie & not at all of the titular #PonniyinSelvan @jeyamravi3 . U kp waiting but his moment nvr arrives. Rather it looks like @chiyanvikram movie (1&2) all alng.
Script sticks to the narrative as in #Kalki novel without 1ce trying 2 course correct 4 historical accuracy anywhr. Hence ,inherits the same biases, inaccuracies of the novel alongwith a bit of overdramatisation. Hence it nvr bcmes the biopic of #RajaRajaChola some wud hv expctd

BTW, this 'journalist' who has issue with stereotype of Kshatriyas shown as rulers in #Bahubali but applauds villain being shown as a Brahmin in #Shamshera, takes offence when a lady of supposedly lose character in a movie (as per her) is named as Veronica! 
- And it does not end here. She even has issue with 'reformed' Veronica praying to Hindu god/goddess!
- Funny bit here is that movie does not say that Veronica is a Christian but madam has taken offense at a mere name.

Most of us only know the world-famous #Bahubali or Gommateshwara statue at Shravanabelagola.But there are 5 historic Monolithic (carved from single stone) statues of Bahubali in #Karnataka - Shravanabelagola, Karkala, Dharmasthala, Venur, Gommatagiri. Let us take a look.

1. The 57 ft tall monolithic statue of Gommateshwara at Shravanabelagola is located on Vindyagiri Hill, built in 981 CE by Chavundaraya who erected the statue for his mother.He was the Minister & Commander of the Western Ganga dynasty. It was the world's largest monolithic statue
2. This 42 ft monolithic statue of Gommateshwara at Karkala, Udupi district was the 2nd tallest statue of Bahubali in the world built in 1430 CE by Veera Pandya Bhairarasa Wodeyar of Santara dynasty on advice from Lalitakirti, the Bhattaraka of Karkala Jain Matha.
#HoysaleswaraTemple is a 12th-century temple dedicated to #LordShiva, located in Halebidu, Karnataka. It was built on banks of a large man-made lake & sponsored by King Vishnuvardhana of Hoysala Empire. Its construction started around 1121 CE & was complete in 1160 CE.

The #HoysaleswaraTemple is a twin-temple dedicated to Hoysaleswara & Santaleswara Shiva lingas, named after masculine & feminine aspects. It has 2 Nandi shrines outside, where each seated Nandi face the respective Shiva linga inside.

Both main temples & Nandi shrines are based on square plan. Temple was carved from soapstone, notable for its sculptures, intricate reliefs, detailed friezes as well its history, iconography.

A linga surrounded by 108 miniature lingas! Carved on rock on the banks of the Tungabhadra. Those who haven't been to #Hampi have missed the finest Indian heritage site of all. #Karnatakatrail.
#Karnatakatrail: One of the finest heritage sites of the state at Kanaganahalli, near Sannati, #Yadgir. Excavated stupa comparable to Sanchi. Remains frm Mauryan-Late Satavahana period, frm 3rd cen BCE. Grt set of carved columns, cant be photographed though. Under restoration.
#Karnatakatrail: The excavation of the Adhaloka Mahachaitya, over 2 decades, has thrown up over 200 Brahmi inscriptions, depictions of Ashoka & of several Satavahana monarchs, stories frm the Jatakas, of the Buddha and more. Remains show a sculpted circle similar to Sanchi.
