After a week of discussing @BBC impartiality, ANOTHER appearance from a representative of the opaquely funded ideologically extreme tax-hating #TuftonStreet lobbyists, the IEA.

There are more than 150 UK think tanks, yet the IEA is CONSTANTLY on the BBC.

#PoliticsLive Image
At least the @BBC say which organisation Reem Abrahim is from!

Blah blah blah, 'cut taxes', 'economic growth', 'red tape', 'deregulate', 'Brexit opportunities' - the same old failed mantra the anti-@BBC, anti-#NHS, & anti-Union IEA have pushed for decades. Here's a quote from me from this weekend's Sunday National:

#THREAD

Pleased to be quoted in this @ScotNational article, discussing Govt pressure on the @BBC, #bbcqt, #BBCBias, Richard Sharp, & the 'tabloidisation' of the BBC.

'BBC 'pro-establishment bias' shown in first six months of Laura Kuenssberg show'.

thenational.scot/news/23377081.…
"Dr Russell Jackson, a senior media lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, penned an open letter to the @BBC in February raising concerns about bias on #bbcqt's panels & from hosts, BBC management's links to the Tories, & a tendency towards platforming dangerous rhetoric."
"Jackson told The Sunday National that the -astonishing response to that letter [which has now been read more than 210,000 times] suggests that a hell of a lot of people are very concerned about what is happening with the broadcaster."

Tonight, Sunday 12 March, the BBC will screen episode 1 of 'Wild Isles' co-produced by the RSPB and narrated by Sir David Attenborough. The series promises an epic insight into the wonder of the UK’s wildlife and wild places.
I hope the RSPB publishes episode 6.

As the BBC has bowed to political pressure to withdraw Episode 6 which focuses on re-wilding. A sixth episode has also been filmed, which is understood to be a stark look at the losses of nature in the UK and what has caused the declines.
The documentary series was part-funded by nature charities the WWF and RSPB, but the final episode will not be broadcast along with the others and will instead be available only on the BBC’s iPlayer service.

Another #THREAD about truth, the culture war, money, & our broken news media.

Following eerily similar stories in the Mail & the Express, Nick Robinson's apology is all over @Twitter, posted almost exclusively by culture war warriors - who hate the @BBC - as "proof" of #BBCbias.
The 'outrage' is fuelled by a false claim made by Nick Robinson - a former Chairman of the National Young Conservatives & President of the Oxford University Conservative Association - that a Ministry of Justice cleaner, Mr Gomes, had died 'of Covid' while working in Downing St.
It transpires that Mr Gomes had not been working at Downing St at the time of his death, but at the nearby MoJ. And while colleagues had raised concerns he'd been suffering Covid-like symptoms in the lead up to his death, a coroner's report recorded it as heart hypertension.

WTAF happened to @BBC journalism?

@BBC I should give this a plug:

Emily @maitlis joins @franunsworth & DG Tony Hall in the Guardian/Observer labelling anyone who observes a clear pattern of Establishment/Tory bias at the #BBC 'conspiracy theorists' theguardian.com/media/2019/dec… #BBCbias
@maitlis @franunsworth In my recent letter to DG Tony Hall, I point out that the term 'conspiracy theory' used & abused by #BBC staff is a CIA construct, employed to close down critical public debate docs.google.com/document/d/1T5…
#BBC license fee payers should ask themselves why a succession of BBC management & senior staff are writing articles in the @guardian, using CIA devices designed to shut down public debate on #BBCbias?

I've had enough of Senior #BBC Management & journalists gaslighting the British public & refusing to apologise for the BBC's appalling #GeneralElection2019ً coverage. Complaint letter to Director Tony Hall here: docs.google.com/document/d/1T5… #BBCbias
@bbclaurak @Renegade_Inc @nw_nicholas @medialens @BBCNewsPR @TheMendozaWoman @LabourLeft @SouthHackneyLab @ta_mills @D_Raval A key point here is the #BBC are completely out of touch with their audience, partly because BBC complaints & monitoring is palmed off to outsourcing crooks #CAPITA. Send your GE2019 #BBCbias complaints direct to BBC management instead👇docs.google.com/document/d/1T5…

THREAD

For all those denying any #BBCBias on @BBCNews & @BBCPolitics shows, here's some of the formal 'corrections & clarifications' to "mistakes" made by the @BBC in 2019, which all *completely coincidentally* helped the Tories by damaging @UKLabour's reputation.
The audience laughing at Boris Johnson during the @bbcquestiontime Leaders Debate about his response to a question about 'trust' was *accidentally* edited out. Image
When Boris Johnson completely messed up Remembrance day by setting off to early then laying a wreath upside-down, the @BBC *accidentally* showed footage from the previous year.

Also, Fiona Bruce on @bbcquestiontime saying Vote Leave did NOT break the law - when they DID. Image

Some thoughts about #BBCBias. First, I don't believe there's any kind of conscious, intentional favouring of 'the right' by BBC journalists or editors. But they do over-represent a metropolitan, liberal elite demographic 1/
That translates into an institutional paranoia of being seen to be 'anti-right' and creates a degree of over compensation in both the sources and issues that gain most prominence, and sometimes in the relative treatment of sources 2/
And most importantly which sources are 'trusted' or seen as inherently credible (eg senior Tories or rt wing Labour versus 'the left') 3/

THREAD : This is a full on National Scandal.
I've gone back and looked at BBC's mendacious and cynical use of biased 'vox pops' during #GE2017 all trying to portray one message "disaffected Labour voters who'll vote Tory"

A completely inadequate response to the petition. How does this address:
- Overspending
- Lies spread by secret social media adverts
- misconduct in public office (referendum lies)
- Press and media (partic. BBC) lies and bias
We need a #BrexitInquiry

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/2347…
/1
This is not just about the referendum result, it's about ALL the abuses and wrong doings that have led us to a Government that wants to implement brexit
A BREXIT #PublicInquiry is needed, not a referendum inquiry.
/2
Take the #SecretFacebookAds. A previous gov't petition response put forward the idea that it's okay for political campaigners to lie, because it's up to the opposition to challenge them. On that basis alone, the FB ads should be banned, you can't challenge a lie you can't see. /3

#BBCBias off the scale on #bbcbreakfast
The segment was about 4 minutes, the clip below is a short edit of a propaganda piece. No fact checking or asking for evidence by the presenter who clearly has her own agenda given this soft interview.
More details on this THREAD..
(1/6)
Bias highlights (1)
- Progress described as a “Labour think tank”. They’re NOT. They organise in Labour, have contributed to candidate slates in internal elections etc. And crucially have been vehemently against Corbyn from day one. No reference to this or questioning of motives
Bias highlights (2)
Progress person allowed to say:
- Labour has taken no action on anti semitism (this is patently false, why not questioned the way #VictoriaLIVE did?
- Bullying widespread through Labour. No asking for what basis or evidence there is for saying this.

Come on, then. As it's 8am Sunday, and you're all still in bed, let's do this.
If you can summon up the strength to click through to the article it opens with these two lines.
We'll come back to the 1st sentence in a bit, but the 2nd one is important.

This study is measuring bias by counting how often Tory- and Labour-supporting newspaper stories are reviewed on the BBC.
