Change *is* disastrous. And it definitely feels like a loss of control.
Definitely a hidden crisis but it shouldn't be hidden! People should be watching out for people who may need help. It shouldn't be for us to constantly have to reach out for support which is inappropriate or simply doesn't exist.

Tea is a social drink, so let's socially avoid it to make our point that the exploitation of women is totally unacceptable

Over consumption is the problem.. we want more now and as cheap and quickly as possible (which means tread on the small people)..

We have to look at our own behaviour as well.
If large companies cared more about people and not making as much money as possible. Then they could have invested in the community so the ladies aren't so dependent on their job being the only one available.

Why does #georgesoros hates #Modi’s guts?

Take the case of the Ukraine War

1. Putin visits India and meets Modi for 6 hours before waging war against Ukraine.

2. Putin halts attacks on Ukraine while Modi evicts the Indian students stranded in Ukraine.
3. India adopts a bipartisan approach & refuses to impose sanctions on Russia at the UN on multiple counts

4. India buys crude oil from Russia defying sanctions

5. When price caps are put on Russian crude, India buys crude oil at steep discounts from Russia & sells it globally
Do you expect Soros to be happy.

6. Let’s get back to the UN . India bids for the permanent UNSC seat and on being rejected threatens to start a parallel organization.

7. It becomes the voice of the Global South & as the President of G20 Modi starts preaching imposes the idea

The congies 🤚 & commies 🛠 of #India are extremely stupid! 🤦‍♂️

They are SO stupid that they believe the #BBCDocumentary will hurt the (khaki) chaddies 🩳 !

The congie & commie morons don't even know that the #HindenburgReport is what actually & truly HURTS the chaddie horde! 😐
Electoral #politics is just like multi-dimensional #chess, even where politics is highly criminalised, like 🇮🇳.

To win a game, one not only has to have the moves to do so, but also have the sharpness, smartness, shrewdness & even cunning to outwit the opponent at their own game!
The congie 🤚 & commie 🛠 idiots of #India actually believe that they can hurt the (khaki) chaddie 🩳 horde by making more noise on the #BBCDocumentary.

Nothing indicates the sheer stupidity of the congies & commies of India more than this! 🤦‍♂️

Why did the chaddies ban it?

India used emergency powers to ban a #BBCDocumentary critical of PM Narendra Modi's role in the 2002 Gujarat riots, in which about 1,000 Muslims were killed.

A UK govt report said the riots had all the "hallmarks of an ethnic cleansing" and held Modi "directly responsible." 🧵
The 2002 Gujarat riots broke out after 59 Hindu pilgrims died in a train that caught fire.

Violent Hindu mobs blamed Muslims and:
▪️killed ~1,000 Muslims
▪️destroyed 20K Muslim homes + businesses
▪️displaced 150K

One Indian govt investigation said the fire was an accident.
Hindu rioters carried out mass rape of Muslim women during the protests, per an unpublished UK report highlighted by the BBC doc.

11 men serving life for gang-raping a pregnant Muslim woman during the riots were released in 2022. They killed 14 members of Bilkis Bano’s family.

The #Hindenberg investigation reveals why Modi/Adani are all out to buy media completely. The spectre of exposed skeletons in their financial fraud in news cycles would be disastrous.

Also their another big problem will be to prevent a lawsuit in US because they can't control
the American judiciary like they do in India. American judiciary is famous for swashbuckling proceedings and verdicts indicting the high and mighty.

Modi has to protect Adani at any cost to save his own ship from sinking. He has a tough choice to either protect his International
image in 'the larger scheme of things' and let go of despotic stand against press/ #BBCDocumentary or protect his domestic image of a minority abusing hardliner for electoral gains.

Either way the demon himself is caught between the devil and the deep sea.

Interesting time!

If the BBC Documentary is to be blocking, we may want to think about blocking the US Congressional records as well, since a number of documents publicly available, including a bill introduced in Congress, say roughly the same thing about Modi's role in the riots.

A thread.
The first major document to call out Modi specifically was the "International Religious Freedom Report 2002" - here is a link, hosted at the US State Department page.

The report notes US Consular officials traveled to Ahmedabad after the riots

2009-2017.state.gov/j/drl/rls/irf/…
Modi again featured in the 2003 report which focused on the failure of conviction of Hindu defendants and the police closing files on some of the key cases due to lack of evidence.

#BBCdocumentry has not only exposed what happened in 2002 but also exposed how hollow, powerless and weak Modi is in 2023. With aggressive attempts to stifle democracy by banning documentary, he’s exposed as a despotic leader in front of the world.

All his PR to project him
as a global leader have been blasted in one stroke.

With his image in a free fall, he’s also destroyed Indian judiciary’s once stellar credibility by manipulating and bribing justices offering post retirement sops.

Indian judiciary remained impervious to use of agencies by
erstwhile governments and kept delivering justice as central pillar of a healthy democracy. Not any more.

In his zest of snatching clean chits from every single law enforcement agency, Modi killed the very fabric of responsible democracy.

Today, he’s single-handedly tarnished

Part 2 is also very well curated and edited. It's about the last 9 years. And everything laid out in 1 hour hits extra hard.

And Swapan's dishonesty gets even more dazzling. Like re Jayant Sinha he's like yes that was wrong "but don't generalize" 🙄.

archive.org/details/modi-q…
Remember that "Don't generalize" is this age old sleazy trick when you're backed into a corner with no arguments against what is being said. So even tho no one is actually "generalizing", you create that straw man and say "don't generalize". And wriggle out.
"Why do I speak with you? So there is a record somewhere that all of us here did not agree with this. It's not a call for help. There is no help coming."

- Arundhati Roy

Nails two important points. Especially that there's no help coming. That the BBC even made this is a bonus.

"PEN America condemns the Indian authorities' order to Twitter and YouTube to block a BBC documentary about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is a flagrant attempt to censor online content," said @karinkarlekar aljazeera.com/news/2023/1/21…
"This order is indicative of the decline in respect for free expression under the current government, and we call for access to the documentary to be restored, in line with India's constitutional protections for press freedom," said PEN America's @karinkarlekar.
#India already ranks in the top 10 globally in terms of jailing writers and other dissident voices.

It is wrong to say "there is nothing new" in the #BBCDocumentary about Modi. Sure, all the facts are known. But they haven't been distilled into one hour with that proficiency, focus, and evidence this way ever before. It is BBC at its best! What editing!!
Having seen it and digested it, I'm even more impressed. And eager for part 2.

No wonder Modi just wants to wipe it off the internet. It is such a clinically and dispassionately laid out case, they can only respond with random conspiracy theories.
Swapan Dasgupta does a sincere but ineffective job of trying to rebut all the charges. It's just such obvious talking points that he himself doesn't believe in. At the end of the day, he is like, court said it's cool.

India in her 75 years of Independence has had only one riot & that too in #Gujarat in the year 2002 when @narendramodi was (a newly appointed) Chief Minister!
🧵
Yes, India has been the most peaceful country ever on this earth! Imagine the calm & love between various communities here! Never has this country seen any violence! Oh really?

Let's recount....

➡️Maharashtrian Brahmin community after Gandhiji's assassination, 1948!
+
➡️Sikh community after ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination, 1984!

➡️Kashmiri Pundits in Kashmir for just being Hindus, 1989–90!

Never has this country seen any riots??

How naïve

I mean the following must be from parallel universe, eh?

I have noticed a lot of people posting links to the videos of the BBC documentary.
Some people have shared the first 8 minutes. Which are quite revealing on their own. #BBCDocumentary

This is getting coverage in many countries including France.

Blocking the BBC is not a move usually pulled by democracies. It is entirely the domain of authoritarians. By blocking the BBC in an official government capacity, Modi makes waves everywhere.

The most significant thing about the #BBCDocumentary is that it is from the BBC. Modi's usual tactics of blaming everything on vaguely known foreign powers can't work as much against BBC, that for generations, has been in India in many languages. And has always played it fair.
Of course they are doing the same thing they try against NY Times or Washington Post or New Yorker, but those are still American publications not read by 99% Indians.

But most Indians have grown up hearing & watching the BBC & knowing it is NOT someone with an "agenda".
And that's why Modi & co are cracking the whip extra hard. They know that the BBC doesn't even listen to its own government NOR give a crap about advertisers or commercial deals. They know BBC has a credibility in India few outlets do. They know this isn't going well for them.

What #RishiSunak NEVER SAID

“I don’t agree with the Investigation of the BRITISH foreign Office (Part of British Govt)”

“The #BBCDocumentary was poorly Researched”

“That he disagrees with the Characterisation of Modi”
(He said, “am NOT sure I agree with ALL” what the MP said)
Basically #RishiSunak never took a Stand.

He said something like “am NOT sure if I agree a 100% if the glass is Half Empty” …. That could mean I might agree 75%, but that’s Not a 💯%

Link to what Rishi said: LISTEN CAREFULLY. He is a smart politician.
Happy to hear your comments….
