The โ€˜atfa was the 'cradle' of camel bones, and inside was piled with blankets and pillows. Curtains would surround for privacy, and when moving it felt like gentle rocking.

Many Bedouin women gave birth whilst on migration in this way.

And there was always teamwork in the desert: men and women worked together. The women were the tent makers (erecting them, packing them up, weaving the goats hair for the cloth). Men fetched food and water, fought, and herded.
