SPECIAL ANALYSIS: For all his remarkable accomplishments, #Sanders ’ legacy in 2020 will likely be that of 2016, which was to be the sheepdog that herded progressives into the #DemocraticParty and got nothing in return.

#Sanders didn’t politically critique the #Obama/#Biden2020 record, hamstrung by his determination not to harm the Democratic Party. Unlike #Trump in 2016, who savaged the Republican establishment and won, Sanders pulled his punches and lost.

Sanders arguably could have beaten #Trump but not the #DNC. He would have beaten his Democratic rivals and gone on to defeat the incumbent president if what passes for the “liberal” establishment (e.g., the @SpeakerPelosi and Schumer) didn’t sabotage him.

From today forward, continuing the anti-Democrat anti-Biden anti-DNC defamation crusade *is* supporting Trump.

If you are comfortable allowing yourself to be manipulated and used by Trump, the GOP, Dark Money and foreign influences, by all means, carry on.

But just remember, the progressive wing of the Democratic party has infinitely greater influence when the Democrats are in power.

Your bus broke down. It sucks. I get it. Now you can get on a bus that takes you closer to your destination, or start the long slow walk back to where you started.

Please choose wisely.

(THREAD) If you are mad about #BernieDropOut, don't go online and shit on Joe Biden. Find candidates down ballot that hold the progressive positions you care about and fight like hell to get them nominated in primaries and then elected in November. 1/3
The GOP learned a long time ago that real power is exercised at the state and local level and invested in state legislatures and local races. And it's given them real power - even as the nation as a whole moves left, statehouses are still overwhelmingly right leaning. 2/3
We have to match that enthusiasm for the races that really matter. Biden will run to the left if he's pushed. He will govern from the left if he is elected with a progressive majority. He will have to, because a progressive agenda is what will show up on his desk. 3/3
