The thing about history is that we just keep fighting the same demons in different form… and our charge, like the scientists fighting various iterations of SARS, is to try to become more sophisticated at battling the new variants.
The people shrieking about “wokeness” and the #1619Project and demonizing their made-up version of critical race theory would in the 1930s and ‘40s have been demanding that Billie Holiday be dragged offstage and arrested for singing “that song that slandered white southerners.”

THREAD: So last night during the #BETAwards I tweeted out loud why @ShaunKing is a total exploiter of Black trauma and why he's the farthest thing from a journalist.
People keep acting like fellow journalists and activists who are criticizing him are simply "hating."

Nah.
For starters, I won't get into whether @ShaunKing is Black or white but I will say that his birth certificate has two white biological parents and he had to basically imply that his white mother stepped out with a Black man (without proof) in order to claim Blackness.
But more importantly, he's been hijacking the movement work of Black women FOR YEARS. He has started over four activist groups that he has abruptly cancelled within five years -- one of them called Justice Together where he stole work from activists like @LeslieMac among others.
