Are you a BAD Manager? What makes a #manager good or bad? You need to realize that the correct answer is not a definite point on a scale. Like most quality measurements, the answer would have a range linkedin.com/pulse/you-bad-…
#leadership
Like how sweet is a cup of tea? Or like salt to taste. Being a "Good" or "Bad" #manager has a range. Also, there is no one size fits to all approach to #management and #leadership
It helps that we have a range to play. Makes conformance easier and realistic. You have a real chance to be “Good” and an equal probability to be “Bad”. The choice is always ours.

TRADITION ET INFLATION

For three years in a row (2020 - 2022) I have been craving a #galettedesrois from Clément (Zahlé) every 6th of Jan. Until I realized this fancy cake summons the gravity of the lebanese situation 1/n
This exciting observational study started in Jan 20 and ended in Jan 22 (3 months after #October17, 1 year after financial collapse two years later).

Thanks to the consistent kitchen method: ingredients and size (10 ppl only) flagrant #Biased have been successfully avoided 2/n
In 2020 the galette costed 87,500LBP. In 2021, it sold 4x higher at 360,000LBP.
In 2022 a #dollarization of the galette happened and sold at 55 USD. 3/n

Here's my #AUTOPHAGYWRAPPED for 2021 (and 2020 since time has no meaning)
Obviously there are tons of papers in the autophagy field, but these are some of the ones which piqued my interest. #biased :D
Super cool paper from @gmaxot @brarkeley demonstrating a role for selective #ERphagy in yeast meiosis. Great demonstration of of developmentally regulated autophagy! rupress.org/jcb/article/22…

Stroke outcome #prognostication

☝️#Stroke clinicians are routinely asked by patients and families regarding prognosis.
🧠The cognitive process underlying prognostication is #complex, poorly understood, and sometime #biased by personal experiences Image

#StrokePrognostication

#Fact: Clinicians, even those with expertise in stroke, perform poorly in predicting clinical outcomes
In this case-based study, overall accuracy for predicting death or disability at discharge was <20%😩

I am ready to talk about the #silencing of over 25,000 psychologists in Australia with regards to the safeguarding of children. We are threatened, harassed, coerced to provide only one #therapy to children or else! They tried to force me into this I said NO. Any journalists???
I am ready to talk to journalists, lawyers, bloggers and am now writing a book on this topic/issue. I am ashamed of my colleagues and the board who wilfully ignore the immature prefrontal cortex, the autistic brain, and their own ethics and guidelines #rogd #gender #transgender
I have not been able to speak openly about this until now as I have been continually #silenced, harassed, threatened, coerced by other #psychologists #therapists, my board, governing agencies and other professionals. It’s time to reveal what is happening to clinicians worldwide

Prestigious European #grants might be #biased, study suggests nature.com/articles/d4158…

One day I will share my own research on the UK :) Very interesting patterns. Eventually, I wonder if this was true anywhere despite the *appearances* of #fairness of one or another system.
The are several reasons... let me share my *non-expert* opinion about this issue.

1) A background of overlap between panels and awardees can never be eliminated because they should be both at the top of their fields.
2) Who knows the system (and people within it) have an advantage because can be advised (with no malice) about the unwritten rules, processes, priorities and good practices.

(1) @NYPDONeill is in the @nytimes today, defending the #NYPD’s #FacialRecognition, but his defense left us with more questions than answers. S.T.O.P. and other advocates have challenged the #NYPD’s facial recognition dragnet. #NYC needs reforms, not PR. nytimes.com/2019/06/09/opi…
(2) The truth is that the #NYPD’s #FacialRecognition system is biased and broken. Their database will return more than 200 possible “matches” for every single photo. Meaning that AT BEST it is wrong 99.5% of the time. All too often, NONE of the “matches” will be the real suspect.
(3) #FacialRecognition can be a powerful tool, but only when used correctly. Per @GeorgetownCPT, #NYPD artists #Photoshop images before testing them, altering the faces and copy/pasting #celebrity photos. This isn’t #ForensicScience; it’s an art project. law.georgetown.edu/privacy-techno…
