Going to try something here.
This will be a thread of a Great Grey Owl perched, spotting a vole, flying to it, eating it and flying back:

1. On the occasion of #WetlandDay, here is a #thread on Reeds(varieties of tall aquatic grass) that grow in wetlands or marshy grounds. Reedbeds support a large variety of birds sp. eg, the Bitterns

2. Reeds are also home to some elusive species like the crakes & the rails (Family: Rallidae). Commonly seen Grey-headed Swamphen and Common moorhen are also belong to the same family.

3. Reedbeds are favorite among the herons. The Purple herons are always there along with their cousin Pond herons. Egrets and Cormorants are also found throughout the year around the reeds.

At Chhapar, a sleepy village 4 hours from Jaipur, life for the birds is high energy and high stress. A constant battle for survival. This black-winged kite flew from a distant perch to come close to me. He was carrying a skink. Sequence follows.

Choosing the safe perch of the moment.

We say #BirdsofPrey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn a couple of days ago and loved it. Methinks it makes a good companion to The Seven Necessary Sins For Women and Girls, covering most of the sins BUT where was Lust??!
I meant of course *saw* but I had to put phone away because The Photograph was about to begin. Catching up on films!

While being clear it doesn't have any romance, I also want to make it clear that #BirdsOfPrey is big on the Incidental Gay representation. There are ladies in it who are queer. The queerness is not subtextual or implied.
And while a big portion of the incitement in the film comes from a m/f breakup, there's also a f/f breakup that helps drive the plot.
This is not Thor: Ragnarok where the canon rep was shot and then cut, and the bisexuality relegated to energy, aesthetics, and vibes. Ladies are gay. Women have relationships with each other in this world.

I really dislike the way people are framing the release of Birds Of Prey. I keep seeing articles such as "What went wrong?" which to me feels like they're missing the big picture, either intentionally or unintentionally.
[1] #BirdsOfPrey #HarleyQuinn #BoP @birdsofpreywb
What went wrong?
• R Rated, which usually don't perform as well in box office
• Marketing was limited. Who'll see it if you don't market it?
• Released at a time of year when movies don't perform well
• SnyderFans vowed to hate this movie before it came out
[2] #BirdsOfPrey
What went right.
• It made 33M Domestic, but already earned its budget internationaly.
• The highest grossing film of the weekend, despite low turnout.
• Damn good, solid, fun, action and crime movie. (See it)

#BirdsOfPrey deals with a lot of the same tropes you get in "grim and gritty" superhero movies but it doesn't it in another way... glam and glittery.

It's not grimdark, it's glamspark.
I also love the street-level view of Gotham's villain/crime politics in #BirdsOfPrey, something that the some of the best Batman stories in the cartoons and comics have done, but which has never been done justice on the big screen.
It's not about saving the world or preventing a war. Even the fight for who controls Gotham's underworld is local. Ultimately while every protagonist has her own stakes, the thing that unites them the most is saving one specific child who isn't destined or chosen or whatever.

About to see #BirdsOfPrey. Very excite.
LORI PETTY MOTHER OF GOD, Margot Robbie is perfect and this is the most perfect action movie I have seen in... maybe ever. Also hilarious and sexy.
I want to inject this movie directly into my veins in a way I haven't since the time I rented Tank Girl on VHS and watched it over and over again all weekend.

Okay. SO.

Who wants to hear the story of when I met the #BirdsOfPrey?

🦜🦩🐥
No big deal, it's just the story I couldn't even hint at for the past bunch of forever.

@birdsofpreywb
@birdsofpreywb Okay, I have to do this kind of quick. But here is the thingie.

And it might explain why I believe in the cast so much, a little bit.

Ready?

Here we go.

In this interview, Mr. Emmerich says that WB’s takeaway from #Aquaman success is returning to the original #DCEU plan: one movie at time more focused on its director creative vision, and less focused in a shared universe plan. No, he didn’t say the shared universe is over. PT1/4
What he did meant is that, in their shared universe, the movie and director individualities come first from now onwards, differing from MCU shared universe, where movies and directors are only team players focused in a shared plan over their own creativity. PT2/4
That was the original plan when the DCEU was announced, but quickly forgotten when WB executives wanted to implement Marvel model plan after it had already started, originating the chaos we all know, with directors quitting, being fired and projects cancelled/badly changed. PT3/4
