Yo @Newsweek: burn this trash in its entirety.

Not just because it is bad & I disagree with it (it is, I do) but bc it is legally incoherent, partially justified by past unlawful mass deportation of US citizens (all apparently fine now!), and just dripping w/bad faith generally
Among many other stupid points, Eastman says it's fine not to recognize Harris (born in Oakland, CA in 1964) as a citizen bc the U.S. government has declined to recognize natural-born citizens before.

The legal basis of Eastman's "argument" (such as it is) that Harris may not be a citizen comes from the worst strains of #MAGA groupthink & has been roundly debunked. If the Supreme Ct were ever to adopt it, tens of millions of U.S. citizens would be disenfrancished & stateless

This on-air OpEd by @goldietaylor on MSNBC hours after Pres. Obama presented a new original of his birth certificate from Hawaii vital records brought tears of rage & hurt to my eyes. If you get this on any level, that "joke" doesn't happen. Part 1.

@PeteButtigieg @Lis_Smith
Part 2

Trump's birther BS was an attack on Pres. Obama's legitimacy and, especially judging with 20/20 hindsight, it was also meant to incite.

This is a thread on civility and how enforcing its boundaries is a favorite tool of the privileged--and especially white evangelicals.
This morning @AntheaButler provided us with a great thread on how and why acts of incivility are not only thoroughly American, but a very effective tactic for disrupting systems of oppression.
Her comments were in reaction to @Morning_Joe and @ChrisCoons shaming those who booed the president last night at the World Series game. The crowd chanted "Lock Him Up!" when his likeness was shown on the big screen.

@KamalaHarris has none of the necessary tools to preside over this nation. But #birtherism #challenges to her qualifications to be elected are #silly.
In the years preceding the 2016 election, because @tedcruz and I share many of the same views, I spent considerable time and energy evaluating the question of whether he could be, consistent with the Constitution, qualified to serve as President.
If you're wondering why that would even be in doubt, remember two things: I am a hide-bound constitutionalist; and, the Constitution provides the brief but precise requirements to be qualified to be president.

I mean....
OK 2 things:
1) Yes, I do take the compliment that if someone is bothering to use this level of personal slander, it shows we're winning.
2) I have noticed that the racist attacks have increased recently. They want us to treat the other side as ALL racist. DO NOT LET THEM SUCCEED

Much of white America, especially white male America (disclosure: I'm a white man), is suffering from delusion. Too many in my demographic have debased themselves through thoughtless xenophobia, callous sexism, knee-jerk bigotry & angry cynicism. (THREAD) #SOTU 1/
62% of white men & 52% of white women knowingly cast their vote in 2016 for a racist demagogue who admitted to being a sexual predator, publicly attacked POWs & gold star families, mocked the disabled, made fun of overweight women, & embraced white supremacy. #SOTU 2/
White America, especially white "Christian" America, jumped the shark when we cast our lots for an admitted sexual predator, coarse bully, & willful ignoramus. We've embraced white nationalist tribalism over timeless American values of life, liberty & equality for all. #SOTU 3/
