A mi me encantó y me deprimió a partes iguales.

1/13. As a journalist of color who worked for @AP for almost 30 years as a reporter & manager, I’ve been troubled by what happened with Emily Wilder. There’s a lot I could say about this incident (and some things I have already said), but here my goal is something else:
2. I’m issuing a challenge to my old shop and other outlets to begin taking some actual steps to address the root of the problem: Social media policies – how they're written & by whom, how they're governed, how they're applied & patrolled, & how violations are punished ...
3. go to the very heart of issues surrounding diversity, equity, inclusion & IDENTITY in the newsroom. These policies inherently single out journalists of color or those with distinct lived experiences – those very qualities that make these individuals and their voices vital

Trump is a psychopathic criminal cult leader in league with foreign powers and money lenders, backed by a corrupt, compromised party and a propaganda media network. If unstopped, he will criminalize dissent and embrace authoritarianism.

Here's a thread laying it all out: (1/9)
To truly understand Trump and the danger he represents, we need to first diagnose his psychiatric condition. He's not just a narcissist. As @DutytoInform explains, he's a psychopath: thedailyedge.substack.com/p/diagnosis-ps… (2/9)
Trump is also, undoubtedly, a criminal. Setting aside Mueller and impeachment, here's a list of 10 known crimes--from sexual assault to racial discrimination to tax fraud to money laundering--that we know he committed even BEFORE he became President: thedailyedge.substack.com/p/the-crimes-o… (3/9)

Image

George Junius Stinney, Jr. of African descent was the youngest person to be sentenced to death in the 20th century in the United States.
He was only 14 years old when he was executed in an electric chair.
During his trial, even on the day of his execution,
he always carried a Bible in his hands, claiming to be innocent.
He was accused of killing two white girls, 11-Year-old Betty, and Mary of 7, the bodies were found near the house where the teenager resided with his parents.
At that time, all members of the jury were white.
The trial lasted only 2 hours, and the sentence was dictated 10 minutes later.
The Boy's parents were threatened, and prevented from being present in the courtroom, and subsequently expelled from that city.
Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able

I stayed up all night racking my brain about how to prevent this tragedy from ever happening again. We have to change the culture of the LEO community. One that believes in service, sacrifice, and humility. You have to suffer.
The only place that you can create this culture is through training. At every step of the way to the badge and the right to keep wearing one.
You have to sweat. You have to bleed. You have to fail. You have to work. You have to sacrifice. It is a forging fire. #GeorgeFloyd #GeorgeFloydProtests #InThisTogether2020 #InThisTogether #community #BuildBackBetter #BlackLivesMatters #ThinBlueLine

For years, with every horrific murder of an innocent black man, woman, or child, I have always tried to find the right words to express my condolences and outrage
But the privilege I am afforded by the color of my skin has often left me feeling like this is not a fight that I can truly take on as my own. Not today, not anymore. Like so many of you, I am angry. I am more than angry. I am infuriated and I am disgusted.
I am exhausted by the heartbreak I feel seeing mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children suffering because their loved one was murdered or locked away unjustly for being black.

Looking at the horrific and devastating scenes in America, it puts into perspective the relative farce of the week-long coverage of a man driving to a castle.
I would say I’m thankful to be living in the farce at the moment but we’re all part of a global community. It’s clear that some people in power have used a pandemic to believe they can control people in a stronger way than ever.
It’s probably a terrible inevitability. Just a few weeks ago I was feeling inspired by a sense of community that seemed to be emerging from this worldwide shared experience.

Why are we still debating on whether/not West Papuans are black? Is this really the right time to fuss about terms? Using #BlackLivesMatters as a political momentum to speak out about their issues will neither distract them from their respective issues nor will it alienate them.
Yes they have different struggles and contexts, yes one may be North America and another is Southeast Asia, but do you really wanna be talking about anthropological nomenclature at a time like this?
I think it’s very arrogant for us ‘mongoloids’ to decide what is effective or not for people we don’t represent. Well-meaning ‘liberals’ are criticizing those who stand with the West Papuans when that fervor should really be saved for oppressors of Papuans.

The officer still made no
move of his leg on my neck
Slammed to the ground,
Blood from my nose
And all I could do was
whisper: "I cant breathe"

Was it cause I wrote a bad check
Or was it cause of my race?
Wasnt I cooperative?

Cause in the end all I could do,
like any other ,was to whisper:

whisper :" I can't breathe"
