During the night @klhumpf and I spent time in the basement due to #Tornado warnings. I don’t understand people who hang out near windows waiting for the funnel and then run to the basement. It’s playing w/ danger.
@KlHumpf When I was 10 years old, I was sitting in front of a TV when a transformer blew and the TV was busted. My grandpa was on the porch. He ran inside and hustled me and Grand mato the cellar.
@KlHumpf I will never forget the sound that followed: roaring and howling that went on and on. It was a straight line wind over 80 MPH. I can still hear it in my mind today 40 years later.
Friends, let me tell you about my experience not even an hour ago with Walmart Grocery. If ableism upsets you, this thread is not for you.
Relevant info: I live on the @dominguezHills campus in an apartment. Part of Covid-19 restrictions is restricting visitors to our campus. Residential staff have been gracious enough to allow deliveries so I can get food every week.
I placed my order like I always do, and my order was on its way. The driver, who I will name with no regret, was Sharron J. The trouble started when he arrived at my location. He contued to interrupt me while I was speaking, getting more frustrated as I spoke.
As things stand at the moment, the new web site of @dawn_com is not entirely accessible for the blind. #Blindness
It is important to ensure that the blind who use screen reading software to read material on the web are able to access the new @dawn_com site. #Blindness
One hopes that the new @dawn_com web site will comply with international benchmarks set for web accessibility in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines developed by the World Wide Web Consortium. #blindness

As associate producer for the show @SeeOfficial, I can tell you the entire cast and crew worked together to challenge misconceptions about #blindness and bring all viewers into our world. Here are some of the ways we did that:
The #blind / #Blindness community gave ongoing input on scripts & creative direction to depict blindness respectfully and authentic to world of SEE. Our cast includes blind and low-vision actors. We want to open doors to roles that historically have only gone to sighted peers
We asked all our actors, both sighted and #blind, what format they would like their scripts in for accessibility. Many said they’d never been offered a choice before and even sighted actors started using VoiceOver and Voice Dream Reader to learn their lines. @AppleTVPlus
