Do you think we would have more protection? Against falling down or being plowed over?

An interesting argument to understand our human nature before we as a race struggle to communicate

In 2019, I was browsing at the Crossword bookstore when I stumbled upon a beautiful poem. I added the book to my wishlist, but unfortunately, it remained there for quite some time. Despite searching for it at various locations, I could not find it.
After a considerable amount of time, I was finally able to locate the book in an online store. The long wait is over, and I am eager to have it in my possession finally. It's time to dive into its pages and get lost in its words.

" Zen and the Art of Happiness "

It's a simple book but it makes you think .

Few of my takeaways ( with random 2 min doodles).
What is Zen ?

#Zen is a Japanese word that is derived from the Sanskrit word Dhyana meaning "Meditation" .
Zen is a journey of exploration & a way of living that , in and of itself doesn't belong to any one religion or tradition as such.

Zen doesn't teach. It merely
points, enabling us to wake up & become aware.

Ever noticed how zen stories rarely have predefined morals? πŸ€“

The zen of doing anything is doing it with a concentration of mind , a calmness & simplicity of mind, that brings the experience of enlightenment and, through that experience , happiness.

It could be something as mundane as sweeping or peeling potatoes !

A spectacular book that focuses on building HABITS following SYSTEMS to achieve RESULTS - Instead of the traditional GOAL BASED approach.

It's a highly engaging read with plenty of practical examples .

Your OUTCOMES are a lagging measure of your HABITS . Although difficult to appreciate on a daily basis , they MATTER IMMENSELY.
Change your habit ,to change the outcome.

It doesn't matter WHERE you are currently,
You do not RISE to the level of your GOALS .You FALL to the level of your SYSTEMS .

Why so ?

Both WINNERS & LOSERS have a Goal . What then sets them apart ?

It's having a SYSTEM in place.
Systems are forever & they result in continuous SELF IMPROVEMENT .

IKIGAI : A reason for BEING .

I have structured the essential bits & pieces of the book in a flow for easy understanding + compiled some handwritten notes.

As always these are just MY TAKEAWAYS from the book :))
#BookRecommendation Image
Firstly what is #IKIGAI ?

It's a convergence of 4 things .
*What you love
*What you are good at
*What you can get paid for
*What the world needs .

We need to find our Ikigai in life!
(Pic from the net) Image
Let's begin with DAILY HEALTH HABITS.

Both our MIND & BODY must be exercised well to avoid deterioration in latter years of life .

Have a mental workout routinely by stepping out of your COMFORT ZONE.
Expose yourself to CHANGE.

#ThePsychologyOfMoney by @morganhousel

It beautifully encapsulates , via chapters , the most under rated factor in investing - The Psychological aspect of it .

Do read the book :)

What we experience early on (in our adult life) is more compelling than what we learn second hand, which is why each person thinks about #Risk & #Reward DIFFERENTLY.

In theory we SHOULD make our investments based on OUR goals & options available.

However we tend to include our unique experiences of how the world works (albeit with incomplete information) which might seem crazy to others .

* Spreadsheets cannot replicate human emotions which is why no amount of studying can make one truly UNDERSTAND the underlying.

Successful #publishing cover letters – a thread.

I’ve had several requests for the letter I offered to share the other day. I've now found it and, instead of writing lots of PMs, I think it's best if I just share it here with everyone. #publishinghopefuls #workinpublishing
There’s nothing more infuriating than not getting the call and not knowing why. Often it's down to stronger CVs competing with yours, but the letter can also play a part. I’ve been lucky enough to have people give me tips when I started out so I'm sharing them here...
...together with what I’m now looking for in the letters I receive. It’s not exhaustive and there are other ways to do things. But it gives an idea.

1) Keep it short. An A4 max is ideal.

The Rothschild Surrealist Ball of 1972 featured imagery that was meant to look β€œSatanic”(psyop) but to a more discerning eye, actually is mocking all religion. It features many sick examples of the infamous banking family mocking the rest of humankind #truth #SaturnDeathCult
more, do you see the Saturnian symbolism?
Why are the #Illuminati so obsessed with symbolism? Especially regarding horned gods, black cubes and the planet Saturn? #truth #SaturnDeathCults #NWO #awake #woke

Between 1960 and 1970 Penguin Books underwent several revolutions in cover layout, at a time when public tastes were rapidly changing. For today's #TuesdayThoughts I look back at 10 years that shook the Penguin.

This is the story of the art of the #book cover...
Allen LaneΒ founded Penguin Books in 1935, aiming to bring high-quality paperbacks to the masses for the same price as a packet of cigarettes. Lane began by snapping up publishing rights for inexpensive mid-market novels and packaging them expertly for #booklovers.
From the start Penguins were consciously designed; Lane wanted to distinguish his paperbacks from pulp novels. Edward Young created the first cover grid, using three horizontal bands and the new-ish Gill Sans typeface for the text.
