This debate can be quite a conundrum. LPG is a non-renewable fossil fuel. Charcoal is a renewable biofuel, CO2 neutral if we replace trees we consume. Biomass is 70% of our energy. Replacing it with LPG is not eco-friendly. 1/3
Also LPG is imported it consumes forex while the charcoal business provides jobs at the the bottom. We should be looking at more efficient ways of producing charcoal, e.g retort/pyrolysis kilns (see picture) and also planting more trees than we consume 2/3
