Hello friends, I would like to tell you about #BurnsNight and why it inspires a very particular fondness in my heart.

This is a story about a man, but it’s also a story about Scotland and about friends and about how we live on in those we love.

Burns Night is a celebration of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.

And really, isn’t that wonderful all on its own? To have a celebration for hundreds and hundreds of years of an ordinary man with the gift of the gab.
Burns was a working man, a farmer, raised in poverty and hardship with little formal education.

And yet he became responsible for some of the most beautiful words in the Scottish language or, I would argue, any language.
