Things I am over - hypocrisy and inconsistency

1) If peaceful #protest on the steps of government buildings is a right, than it also is on a football field #TakeAKnee, in a park, etc

#Thread #equity #rant (1/8)
2) If we ban #guns from some buildings in the interest of security, that means for all people - not just those that aren't white

3) If #BlueLivesMatter, do not risk our brave protectors’ health by protesting near them without #masks

#MichiganProtest (2/8)
4) If you are not wearing #facemasks given your personal #liberty, than why do women not get extended the same for #Reproductiverights

5) If all life is sacred, than why would we sacrifice 2-3% of our population by #ReopenAmerica too quickly?

Great event and panel put together by @livemint @UtpalBhaskar converging diverse views from financing, #fossilfuel generation, #energytransition #technology and business operations in the #electricity value-chain! 1/n
As Power Minsiter @RajKSinghIndia rightly said, problems of capacity and #energyaccess has been solved, and the next problem to be solved is reducing #India's #carbonfootprint - #electrification of #mobility and #cooking is one pathway.
Increasing domestic and international demand for #electricity will lead to more #RenewableEnergy capacity installation; new connections and usage will ⬆️domestic demand, integration & #export (neighbors inc #Myanmar #SriLanka) will ⬆️cross-border demand, which India can supply.

I live in a duplex in Mississauga. Let's say I have the funds to install solar on my house, or replace my high-efficiency natural-gas furnace, or replace my 2105 Corolla with an EV. What would be the best carbon bang for my $? #ClimateChange #onpoli #economics #carbonfootprint
Maybe @andrew_leach might have some idea?

With just over a month left in 2020, let’s talk about the #designtrends we expect to see in 2020. I’ve noticed, and this is usually the case, a larger focus on animation this last year. Flat, #material animation especially 2D characters. Also there has been an increased
Social media focus on “lesson” #Instagram style posts with multiple screens. Hell I tried it myself to see how I would go about doing it. The good thing about these types of posts is that they actually do contain some good info, but I think the trend has hit its peak now.
Next year, I suspect the design world will get more into simple #motiongraphics, perhaps even the multi-screen style static pages we have seen but shorter, more focused animated style typography based animations as the tech becomes more widely available through phones and tablets

To kick off #Sustainuary then, let's talk about #dairy alternatives like nut juice, oat juice and various other #plantbased drinks. We've never had more choice, but what are the actual #sustainability credentials of these products vs animal milk? #Veganuary
#Dairy production has received widespread criticism for its #carbonfootprint .
The average UK dairy system produces around 1.2Kg Co2eq. per Kg milk . However this varies hugely, mainly depending on the cows' diets and how much fertiliser is used on the pasture. #sustainuary
The most #sustainable #dairy farms in the UK can have carbon footprints as low as 0.5 KgCO2 eq. per Kg milk produced, which are comparable to many dairy alternatives. #Sustainuary #Veganuary

WIND THREAD

1)
Interest in the #solar thread was so strong that I decided to pull together some info on #wind as well. And actually use some #hashtags to make it easier to search.
So with that, on with some windy thoughts from a this particular blowhard:
2)
Like #solar, #wind power faces intermittency problems, so it MUST be paired w conventional power generation unless u r ok having your electricity supply die with the wind. This is particularly the case w old-style 40m turbines in many early-adopter locations like #PalmSprings
3)
Wind’s #sitingrestrictions r different from solar. #Turbines CAN b installed above crops.
Wind CANNOT b installed on slopes (winds r 2erratic, so things alternate between no power & snapped towers) nor above 10k feet (thin air = less force on the turbine blades).
