Leaders are readers!

When we see this quote, what comes to mind? Books?

Effective, great and intuitive leaders read other things in addition to books, which sets them apart from others.

@JohnCMaxwell #leadership #Accelerate #BeDeliberate #MADIsTheNewCurrency #HRwithEM
1. Leaders are readers of their situation.

In all kinds of circumstances, leaders pick up on details that might elude others.

@JohnCMaxwell #leadership #Accelerate #BeDeliberate #MADIsTheNewCurrency #HRwithEM
They don't need to sift through stats, read reports, or examine a balance sheet. They know the situation before they have all the facts.

By making four simple assumptions in our lives we can immediately begin leading a more balanced, integrated, powerful life. @StephenRCovey #Accelerate #BeDeliberate #MADIsTheNewCurrency #HRwithEM
They are simple—one for each part of our nature—but I promise you that if you do them consistently, you will find a new wellspring of strength and integrity to draw on when you need it most. @StephenRCovey #Accelerate #BeDeliberate #MADIsTheNewCurrency #HRwithEM

One question I often get to answer from early career professionals with keen interest for #HR is;

How can I develop myself to start a #career in HR?

I'll share briefly.

Skills & knowledge to develop to kick-start a career in #HumanResource.

A THREAD! #careeradvice
I believe what I'll be sharing will be relevant to you, whether you’re kickstarting your career in #HR or you’re a seasoned HR professional.

I'll share some of the most important HR skills and offer advice on how to cultivate them. #careeradvice
Averagely, there is a common misconception that HR professionals are often unprofessional and tend to abuse power - as much as I don't align with this, I believe those that have been culpable represent themselves and not the profession.

#HR is one of the best careers to pursue.

(1/x) This video paints a much more realistic portrait of the challenges of corporate / employment life at #Blizzard it's worth watching.

Caveats:
-Taxes/benefits have increased dramatically for companies to offer
-Blizzard would do well to relocate to a less expensive area
(2/x)
-Due to economic challenges last few years, most organizations have been very cautious about profit-sharing w/ staff. Not unique to games industry.
-Rampant unemployment & slow economic growth the last 10 years has emboldened companies to raise job requirements & pay less
(3/x)
-Now that the job market is improving, companies will struggle to retain or recruit if they don't improve compensation.
-Gaming studios are the last bastion of the Dot-Com boom. And now they must restructure to be profitable as competition has increased a LOT

1) Confidence can be elusive as we journey through life & our careers. Doubt, low self-esteem, & a lack of emotional control undermine our ability to deal with adversity or failure. It also limits our willingness to take the actions necessary for #success. #ThoughtOfTheDay
2) Most people believe that you are born with confidence – either you have it, or you don’t. This belief is why so many people hold themselves back from ever reaching their true potential. #success #LeadershipDevelopment #careeradvice
3) What if there was a way for you to build your #confidence? What if you could learn how to believe in yourself so you could leverage all your skills and talents? What if you could make a difference in your community or become a leader within your organization? #Questions

This approach may land you your next job!

If you have been looking for jobs without progress, it may be that you are going about it wrongly.

In today's job market, you have to be strategic. I call it Optimized Targeted Job Search. See actions below; thread.
1. List about 10-20 companies you intend to work with.

2. Research on how they recruit& what the requirements are.If it's online, through referrals or hard copy Cv submission, you should know.

2b. If you need to add new skills or certifications for this purpose, do it.
2c. If the process requires writing a test, reach out to people that has gone through it and seek guidance on what you should expect, give the test preparation your best, its like a final exam.
Even if you feel confident, still prepare very well. No bad in excelling well.
