Carbon contracts-for-difference (#CCfD, in German #Klimaschutzverträge, #KSV) are a policy instrument to guarantee a fixed carbon price to innovative low-carbon industrial projects, for each ton of emission reductions below the conventional benchmark technology. 2/ 
This is done via a project-specific two-sided contract-for-difference on the EU ETS price and EU BAT benchmarks as baseline (as first proposed in 2017 here: diw.de/documents/publ…, and peer-reviewed in comparison to one-sided CfD/price floor here: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…) 3/

Good 1: that’s a massive policy push to transform #EUGreenDeal promises into concrete actions to change our ways of life. @FransTimmermans recognises this will be “bloody hard”, but righly underlines that our future depends on it.
Good 2: Creation of the Social Climate Fund that we @DelorsInstitute have been calling for years. This Fund should start as of 2025 with EU budget, and could invest up to 70Bn€ from 2025 to 2032 to finance national plans to ensure social justice in the transition. #EnergyPoverty

Förderhöhe: über "Klimaschutzverträge" (Laufzeit 10 Jahre) kompensiert der Staat die Mehrkosten des Betriebs von neuen, klimaneutralen Produktionsverfahren ggü fossiler Referenzroute (d.h. Differenz zwischen CO2-Vermeidungskosten des neuen Verfahrens und EU ETS - Preis). (3/6)
