I’m very proud of my wife @HelenRibee for passing another ED exam leaving just the OSCE part C to go for MRCEM.

She is pretty amazing. Wife, mother of 2. Or 3 if you count me. Manages the house and finances and organising, even when I do try and share this.

She has also had a more convoluted career journey than I have (and I’m currently st9 equiv with 18 mo this to go).

She was an ortho reg for 6 years. She wasn’t a trainee. But she was pretty boss. The ‘boys’ would often not stand a chance.

She went on may leave for our first, B, and whilst away from work had a radical change of heart and decided to go back switching to ED.

She *chose* not to go into training. Trainees in the region get flung all over the god-darn area.

Child. Life. Etc. Plus all …

The DISCHARGE trial in online on the NEJM and it confirms what we all experience every day using CCT in a proper manner. CCT is safer, reliable and allows better management of stable patients with suspected obstructive CAD as compared to invasive strategy.
The main observation that comes to my mind however is still the very low prevalence of patients with obstructive CAD (25%) in both arms (CT and ICA). This is well known from previous studies and it is related to the selection criteria adopted for referral, partly.
The fact that still we send for an invasive and costly examination (CAG/ICA) this huge number of patients is simply astonishing in 2022. Healthcare cannot be managed like this, especially in universal systems like Italy, Germany, UK, Canada,...

Someone else has also since mentioned $JAKK to me - it's a (shitco) toy maker, similar to Character Group #CCT in the UK. CC's tweet mentions the refi, he has a point - I think there may be something here to play for, perhaps towards a double or so before the end of the year.
Company has cash of $80M + new debt of $99M (pink) repays difference on prior debt of $129M with cash on hand (green) so $50M cash + debt $99M

6,395 shares at $10.6, converts at $5.65 (purple) into $18.9M (blue) so + 3,345 shares = 9,740 / $103 cap & $20M prefs (grey) $172M EV
As you can see it's highly seasonal into Q3. Mgmt mentioned in the last (Q1) call that inventories are low. Typically they would be about $20M higher than here in Q2, so if we penalise the cash in the EV by that amount to account for inventory build we're at $192M

Fig. de @ValentinaBarca et al

1/11 How can a country quickly implement emergency #CashTransfers when hit by a shock like #COVID19? Options include increasing the value of existing transfers, expanding coverage, or by setting-up interventions based on existing structure. See image from @ValentinaBarca_ et al.
2/11 Tayssir, a #CCT managed by the @MarocEducation covering 2 million students in both rural & urban areas, is the only large-scale social #CashTransfer programme in #Morocco. However, the emergency benefit for #InformalWorkers didn’t rely on Tayssir to respond to #COVID19. Why?
3/11 In part because Tayssir doesn't have its own targeting mechanism. It also uses RAMED'S proxy means test to determine eligibility in urban areas. See So, was the main reason to use RAMED cards because of its good targeting performance? Not really…

Concerning #WalterOnnoghen, the #CJN of Nigeria, I remembered an article written by the ebullient & brilliant @Naijavote about the parallel link between our decadent society & the corruption that thrives in the judiciary. This was many years ago in @THISDAYLIVE Law.
Thread: 👇
I had a lengthy argument with my late Mom, sister & brother-in-law about the core issue of that article, which was how our society created all her beasts & demons & certainly deserved the consequent corrupt & visionless leadership. #WalterOnoghen #ChiefJusticeOfNigeria
@Naijavote asked (not in her exact words though), "Where do #CorruptJudges come from?" She said that they were first 'unscrupulous & corrupt lawyers'. She also asked where those unscrupulous & corrupt lawyers came from. Her answer was that they were the bad & cheating students.
