This eye opening documentary by @ava on @netflix is a perfect companion to @SceneOnRadio’s Seeing White.
It will hurt your heart and open your eyes about the atrocities of revised US slavery (aka mass incarceration.) It is a must for those who are serious about allyship.👉🏽

Linda Fairstein is trapped in a dilemma. If the men known as #CentralPark5 are innocent, then the police may have coerced them to “confess.” She refuses to accept the latter, so she’s stuck insisting that these men are guilty of something. 1/

I watched @netflix's powerful,celebrated and acclaimed film titled @WhenTheySeeUs which is based on a true story. It was brilliant and captivating.I have no doubt that it will win awards,including an Oscar. It was an emotional roller-coaster: frightening,moving and troubling.1/
..I was shocked about the injustice that the American justice system meted out to the five innocent, young black boys that were falsely accused of the most brutal and vicious gang rape, framed up and jailed by those that manipulated the system and abused their power in 1989...2/

I watched @ava #whentheyseeus Sunday. My friend #Justice4Jeremy was gunned down Monday evening. Immediately following his murder @ProvoPolice & local media released Jeremy’s criminal history most of which was dismissed with prejudice! They’ve yet to release killers name 1/T
I’ve been told by law enforcement offers to let the @ProvoPolice & @UtahCoAttorneys do their job. If “we” rush them they’ll do a bad job. Meanwhile Jeremy’s neighbor the man who killed him is being treated like a hero. The female aggressor is being protected. #justice4Jeremy 2/T

(1) I finally got to watch #WhenTheySeeUs, but the news interrupted: a "#terror attack foiled in #TimesSquare." A disturbing headline, but if you look beneath the surface, a very different story emerges, along w/ disturbing parallels to the #CentralPark5 nytimes.com/2019/06/07/nyr…
(2) The first thing that got my attention was prosecutor’s admission that “despite his intentions, he posed no immediate threat.” A man wanted to attack Times Square, but there was no threat? That didn’t make sense. How could such a major attack not be a threat?
(3) Looking at the facts laid out in the criminal complaint, things get a bit clearer. As paragraph 3 says that in "the course of an investigation...[the defendant] bought and received two firearms with obliterated serial numbers from undercover law enforcement officers."
