"steady state", in economic terms, would mean a #business that continues to provide approximately the same services or products over time to a steady clientele鈥攏ot a *constant* number of clients but one that varies up and down with time, oscillating about a steady average.

I admit that's on my mind because of "Disco Elysium", which puts the player in the head of a detective who's melted down so completely from booze and burnout that they suffer total amnesia. that's not a new conceit exactly, but DE explores it with a certain thoroughness.

in particular, "Disco Elysium" reminds you very completely of how even a complete amnesiac like Harry du Bois can still keep up some approximation of ordinary social function because he's locked into a social role that's rigidly defined and constrained and *supported*.

Was asked what I thought might happen next with #WotC and the #OGL. Here it goes.

1) IT鈥橲 UNLIKELY THEY CAN WALK THIS BACK: The new #CEO is hanging his hat on this, so I just don鈥檛 see them going 鈥渏ust fooling鈥!鈥 without him being canned.
2) LARGE COMPANIES USING THE OGL WILL MOVE AWAY FROM THE OGL AS FAST AS THEY CAN: This is already seemingly happening. Signing OGL 1.1 is like placing a self-destruct in your business and giving the detonator to WotC. They can destroy you at any time.
3) A NEW OPEN GAME WHICH DOES PRECISELY WHAT DND DOES ONLY PROBABLY SLIGHTLY BETTER WILL BE CREATED: Again, already underway in multiple places, and it won鈥檛 take long. The ranks of those designing such things will be filled with people who helped make #DND what it is today.
