The Week 13 marble counts for the #CFBMarbleGame are up! Thanks as always, Nate.
According to Nate's analysis, if the CFP were set by the marble game 6 teams still have a shot at playoff:

TCU: lock, no matter what happens
Michigan: also a lock
Georgia: only out if they lose to LSU and KSU beats TCU
USC: in if they win, out if they lose to Utah

1/2
(actually 7 teams still with chance)

LSU: in if they beat Georgia and USC loses to Utah and TCU beats KSU
Washington: in if Utah beats USC and TCU beats KSU
KSU: in if they beat TCU and (LSU beats Georgia or Utah beats USC)

All other teams are mathematically eliminated.

2/2

If you're following the #CFBMarbleGame, Nate has posted the updated standings. Thanks Nate!
*All FBS teams start season with 100 marbles, plus 10 bonus marbles for every P5 team on schedule

Win at home/neutral site, take 20% of opponent's marbles; win on the road, take 25%

Fractional marbles are rounded to nearest integer.

That's it, that's the whole algorithm.
**yes, unbelievable Iowa has climbed all the way to #24 this week, but that's not because I have a thumb on the scale. That's just the algorithm talking.

quibble all you want with its parameters, but it's 100% objective, transparent, and doesn't rely on bullshit "style points" or "eye tests." And each team knows exactly how many marbles are at stake before they play.

For those of you following the #CFBMarbleGame, Nate has updated the standings after rivalry weekend. Current Top 4 marble holders: Georgia (644), Okie St (543), Michigan (537), Alabama (478). Thanks Nate!
Reminder on how the marble standings are calculated:

If the Marble Game was used to select the 4 team playoffs after the conference title games:

Georgia is lock for Top 4, even with loss to Alabama
Alabama and winners of B1G and B12 are in with a win, out with a loss
ACC and P12 winners are mathematically eliminated

Latest #CFBMarbleGame rankings are out: ND now #1, 3-way SEC tie at #2 with Alabama, Georgia & Arkansas
*brief reminder of the rules:

Every P5 team (+Notre Dame & BYU) starts with 200 marbles, all other FBS team starts with 100.

Beat an opponent at home or neutral site, take 20% of their marbles; beat an opponent on the road, take 25% of their marbles.
example: Iowa has 321 marbles (#9) and UMD has 289 marbles (#15). They play at UMD Friday night.

If Iowa wins they take away 72 of UMD's marbles and jump (temporarily at least) to #1.

If UMD wins they will take 64 of Iowa's marbles and jump (temporarily at least) to #2.
