One year ago.. just after the cities Bucha & Irpin were liberated, with @WCKitchen I joined @markushyn to reach families here. It was the day we and the whole world saw the worst horrors we could ever imagine… but somehow at the same time I also saw hope. Hope from Ukrainians🇺🇦
When we arrived if people had food, they were only cooking outdoors.. infrastructure was destroyed so everyone had to do whatever they could to. This was next phase for @WCKitchen response… meals from restaurant partners, water &ingredients to people living in these conditions.
And now, 1 year later this how WCK #ChefsForUkraine supports families. After liberations across Ukraine, people don’t have power, gas, water… so we adapt each time! We can’t forget the horrors in Bucha, Irpin.. we came together then & must stand together with Ukraine now too🙏 
The horrors faced by families escaping Mariupol & nearby cities are unimaginable. I’m at a reception center that’s their first stop—some waited at Russian checkpoints for 2 days & cars arrive shot up. @WCKitchen delivers meals here & today I brought baby food. #ChefsForUkraine 🇺🇦
It’s a miracle these families were able to get out after being fired upon. Many cars in the parking lot of the reception center are marked with bullet holes and broken glass.
Volunteers at the reception center are truly heroes. Every day they show up to support families in this dark time. I asked if they needed anything beyond food, and Lina told me one of their two microwaves had broken—so we brought a new one!
