Bookshop.org started in the US of A early last year. Many #bookshops in the USA found it a lifeline to help survive #lockdown. The UK launch was brought forward when #lockdown2 was on the cards in the UK to try to help #indiebookshops in the UK in the same way. 2/10
Customers can order books online from a selection of hundreds of thousands of #books for #homedelivery and nominate a chosen #bookshop to get a cut of the profits (instead of Am*z*n!) 🙌3/10
Bookshops (non-essential retail) to close for browsing in England from Thursday; about the worst time with many stocked up for Xmas and some key titles (Obama & Walliams) on the launch pad. But many will remain open for web/telephone/emails orders, so you know what to do.
Also, uk.bookshop.org opening from Monday. We take a dim view of those not supporting their local bookshop, including Waterstones.com, Blackwells.co.uk, whsmith.co.uk, easons.com, hive.co.uk et al.
Meanwhile, there are four days left to enjoy the miracle of browsing and the art of spending money virtuously. Shop local, shop safely.
